I did not reject the car, took it back and got some of the squeaks and rattles fixed after the first few weeks (dealership then trashed the paint by doing the worst wash job I have ever seen, took a week at a detailers to fix). Rattles all came back but by that point I had lost faith in the dealership and was bored of the 50 mile round trip and wasted time and petrol so just lived with it. Car was due to go in July/Aug anyway to make way for the Vantage but have now cancelled that so its going to be bangernomics for me for a while I think.
No offence, but you sound like an embittered and extremely hard to please individual..I wonder what sequence of events brought it on.?

IMO the interior of the 991.2 is worse than the 991.1, very cheap feel to the switches and some of the interior trim. The trim where the seatbelt goes into the B pillar came off in my hand, very crappy piece of plastic and the trim itself is like pressed cardboard.
I own a .1 GTS but surprised to hear this as from a distance the .2 interior looks mainly the same apart from the PCM screen.

Sounds like you may have got a Friday build.

He's a serial porsche owner.... just goes to show how you are treated/dealt with by a dealer goes a long way to looking after a relationship - due to poor handling and this car they lost an order for a turbo s too iirc.

Shame about vantage tuffer... what about a 570 GT or 570S. used not new?

Embittered and hard to please, how would you feel if a dealership did this to your £120K car after 2 weeks? Car had lots of squeaks, rattles and clunks, I took it back to get it fixed and they trashed the paintwork, then had to go without the car twice whilst they rectified it. As someone else mentioned, this was my third and I had a Turbo S on order but was not happy with the way I was treated by the OPC so I cancelled. Placed an order for a Vantage but I have some concerns regarding the build quality so have decided to hold off. I would say more disappointed than embittered, hard to please, not really, I have had £30K BMW's that are better put together so I expect a £120k car to be right.

As a left field fun choice, what about an Alfa 4C.

I'm not sure about suggesting that someone who has had numerous issues with build quality goes and buys an Alfa biggrin

Left field choice for me would be an NSX, which I really like but they seem very rare ..

Funny you should say that, I searched yesterday and found a few for sale but wildly differing prices for what appear to be similar cars. Both c200 - 500 miles and yet £25K price difference.

A couple more:

Bold interior spec and looks great. I seems to remember seeing a 911 with a light coloured interior and buckets in OPC Hatfield's showroom, was it your car ? Do you use something on the leather to keep it clean ? We've got a Cayenne with the cream and black interior....I've tried every product under the sun and having problems with dye transfer on the drivers seat.

Nothing like some photographic evidence to justify ones reaction to a situation..

Very bad form on your OPC'S part.!

Thanks am really pleased with it. Not mine at Hatfield, I'm south coast.

At the time I ordered it there weren't any Crayon coloured 911s around so took the plunge based only on a few pics on the internet and the dealer configurator and I'm glad I did. I previously had a dark alcantara GTS interior in the 997 so wanted a change.

Surprisingly I haven't really had too many problems with dye transfer. The detailer applied some leather stain protector or similar when it was new but warned me it probably wouldn't suffice. Since then I've only spotted one small light blue mark which came off easily using a fragrance free baby wipe (remember seeing somebody else mentioning this so thought would try). Not sure I'd be happy wiping the whole seat with these regularly but certainly worked as a one-off.

after 5 years my 997 GTS feels completely solid Tuffer. But these were not produced at the same volume. Have the feeling your case is not unique and is consequence of mass production and squeezing margins. Looking at new cayenne seems clear build quality is no longer the same for a 90k car

I have found the build quality to be pretty much faultless on my GTS and thought that is one area Porsche punches above its weight as the relative mass production vs some lower volume cars like Aston’s and Ferrari’s don’t have the same economy of scale or iterations of design that Porsche and particularly the 911 has

Nothing. Did have a Vantage on order but cancelled it, going to sit on the cash and see what the market does.
Well your in a nice position of a choice to be made! I agonised over the GTS, I tried 3 in various specs two had annoying rattles/ squeaks, one was faultless. In the end I missed the charm of the old NA engine even though the new one is more effective. I was lucky to have an early glimpse of the Vantage. I wasn’t sure about the exterior, but the interior was a real let down for me. The exterior has grown in me, the interior has not. I’ve looked at some early examples and the fit and finish is not a patch in my wife’s MX5 at a sixth of the price... so my left field choice was an R8 RWS. It’s as usable as any 911 (if you don’t need minute back seats) is comfortable for long journeys, there are no quality issues whatsoever and the engine is a true charismatic masterpiece and unlikely to be repeated? There is nothing right now I’d rather have...

Anyway, just my two owners, enjoy choosing!

I had one for about six months before my GT3 and probably the best all round Porsche i've owned..What spec have you gone for ?
For me personally the one must have is the RAS which transforms the dynamics when pressing on, especially on a track..

Did 400 miles in my 991.1 last weekend (Silverstone Classic) Have to say cabin was extremely comfy and quiet with zero unwanted noises, creeks or rattles. Mind, my tinnitus had a good seeing to thanks to the incredible engine noise..
Just what a 911 lump should be. Dirty old school raspy racket on startup or moderate pedal - full F6 banshee scream howl when extending. Blinking marvellous !!
