Mine arrived yesterday, after what feels like forever since I ditched the R8. It's taking all my willpower to not pick it up for the weekend. I will fight it though, it's going for a ceramic coat and PPF next week.

Jesus Christ the interior is ridiculous! I think I've done it a little differently to most (and my spec was the cause of some delay), opting for the vents rather than the more common trims in body colour (which oddly, come with leather slats).

I couldn't have had the body colour trims anyway (e.g. door strip, dash panel etc), as these have to stay as carbon with a GTS interior pack. I am very very happy with the result and a bonus that the leather backed seats come with contrast stitching too (IIRC, this was a cost option which I didn't pay for).

Evening all.

Back on page 78, sorry June 2017, I took delivery of my first GTS above. Those who remember back then will note that I have a penchant for a high spec laugh

Well, that wonderful car accumulated nearly 7000 fab miles, including the NC500, at which point I was offered very near what I paid for it (helped by a bit of a discount up front and Porsche raising their prices materially last year). One of the worst car decisions I made was to sell it.

I've since bounced from an AMG GT (second time round), Audi R8 (my third, and finally a good one) and then after my twin boys arrived earlier in the year I decided to go back to a four seater as the R8 wasn't getting used. I tried an Aston DB11. That lasted 3 weeks laugh

It seems once you've had a 911 nothing else will do.

So in June I bought another 911, but this time a two-year-old Turbo S, mainly because I couldn't find a used GTS with all the chassis tech I wanted and I didn't have the patience to wait for a new one again.

It's eye wideningly good. But for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on, I enjoyed driving the GTS more. It had 6k on the clock when I bought it, 10 weeks later it's approaching 10k, inc. a trip to the Nurburgring last weekend. What a car out on the continent!

Then, last week the most preposterously spec'd C4 GTS came up for sale. 8 months old, 2k miles and spec'd to....wait for it....£145k. How ridiculous, even by my standards. Have you ever seen leather stitched speaker covers? It's a new one on me!

I don't think I've ever seen a Porsche with an options list so long. Someone lost a lot of wonga because it was quite fairly priced given the spec.

Even better, my Turbo S seems to have appreciated in the last few weeks despite the miles, which is nice biggrin I bought it privately so no OPC margin to p!ss away.

So, by the weekend I should be in this. It's a daring colour compared to the safety of my black Turbo S....

The interior trinkets are lush and make my efforts on my first GTS seem amateurish. You'd probably never go this mad yourself unless budget really was meaningless but it's sure nice to benefit from it as the second owner!

And the full spec sheet redface

Hope I don't regret moving the Turbo S on for it!
Interesting post - I think some people just like box ticking so if they can have it - they will.
Most on here I am sure balance things against cost/want/need.
145k for a GTS is nuts considering at list thats more than I think I could get a GT3 to!
The Miami is definitely out there but imo variety is the spice of life and there are plenty of boring coloured cars out on the roads.

In my experience with a Turbo S (I wish I could've had it for a week!) it is so preposterously fast with the grip, traction and power it tends to be very easy to drive like an absolute tool. In terms of speed and overtaking etc.

I think the GTS makes a better noise and you get more feel as it is lighter (although being a C4 you won't get the complete nimbleness of the RWD car), and will give you more interaction at slightly more sane speeds.

It's good to have some balance in the world, I hope you enjoy the GTS as much as you have enjoyed the turbo S (which I still stand by as one of the best/fastest dailies money can by - if you can deal with the relative lack of comfort over say a cayenne/panamera).

Look forward to photos on collection and a report once you have had it for a short while biggrin

Also DB11 is a great GT car and is the RS6 Performance your daily driver?

The DB11 was a nice car, but just not for me. It was neither a sports car and as a GT, I’m afraid the RS6 showed it up in some areas. Owning an Aston was a dream for me, and sometimes things need to remain dreams.

My daily driver is the 911, the RS6 is my wife’s car. Bought to transport our new family as we had twins a few months ago, it’s arguably over specified for the job. It is quite superb though, possibly the very best all rounder I’ve ever experienced.

The 911 Turbo S is great but I did find the GTS more fun. Yes it feels a bit lighter, mainly because the Turbo is too fast, too good and requires serious speed to enjoy. You can’t really rev it out because it’s so fast, and whilst they get criticised for a relatively muted sound, I do think they sound good when revved out, but you just can’t do it.

Well you can rev it out ... but it's a case of do not pass go, do not collect £200, and straight to jail :P rofl

RS6 I think is underrated by some - will be interested to see the comparison of new RS6 and Pan ST Turbo/turbo S

From what I understand, you only get the extra extending spoiler with the coupe, -20mm suspension and pdcc.

If you choose that option on the configurator it mentions a further extending spoiler, it doesn’t with the convertible and targa which only get -10mm suspension option.
I got the rwd coupe, rws, no pdcc, no sunroof.
Spoiler has 1 position. Goes up at 60mph, down at 40 mph.

It’s in the Handbook. It puzzled me for ages as to why it was going so high sometimes, but not others. I was then told it was an aero thing when you have your sunroof slightly open, or fully open, it goes to the higher level. That’s the only time it does it.

its definately the sunroof as above. you can test this with the sunroof too, as when the roof is closed you cant see the spoiler, when you open the roof the spoiler also raises a bit more allowing you to see it through the rear window.

I have a convertible so have a massive sunroof but never get to see my spoiler from within the car, the ass is too big and bulbous wink

The convertible for some reason doesn’t get the further extending one, so strange it’s only with the sunroof open.

The rear spoiler angle will increase further and act as an air brake under extreme braking - think ABS activating, PDK will also downshift to assist in adding engine braking too.

Thinking of selling mine, I am just not getting enough use out of it to warrant keeping it on the driveway, which is a real shame.

It's a 2017 Crayon GTS2 manual with crayon buckets. PM me for more details, some pics a few pages back on this thread. It will probably end up going back to an OPC but as is often the case matching up a seller and potential buyer first probably benefits both sides.

Looking for something a bit less fancy, just having problems knowing what to replace it with. I just can't see myself going down the newish RS/M Car/AMG route which probably brings me right back to where I was with a 997!

Heads up. Possibly the most desirable, unique, highest spec, low mileage, freaky mint mint 991.1 GTS has just gone on sale at Romans. Going to miss this special car.
