991 GTS Must haves

All they will care about us the 992 S being a bit quicker than the 991.2 S. I am sure the GTS will have a decent gap on the 991.2.
Perhaps but I thought Porsche has tended to squeeze more performance out each generation per bhp so was surprised to see a faster time on the older gen with similar bhp - the weight give up as mentioned before could be it but shows the new chassis is maybe not a huge leap dynamically and less so than the 997 to 991Erniemcp said:

The actual drive is not a huge leap forward on paper. I liked the 991.2 over the 991.1 because I like torquier cars. The 991.2 GTS gave me 450hp and 550 torque available from as low as 2,150 rpm. Like it or prefer the prior 3.8 NA it was a very different offering.
The 992 S to me just looks different thats it. It doesn't offer me the proposal of a vastly different driving expereince over our 991.2 GTS's . It's heavy, the wheel diameters are IMHO to big now, the gear lever on PDK looks like its lost a section, you cant tilt it to the side for manual engagement you of course have to press a button now for that. It's heavy, the front grill lower apron area dn rear apron area look like test mule covers are still afixed, the US configurator has sport design package which looks better UK not yet as it affects consumption figures and not tested yet as I understand it. Its' heavy did I mention that. Why so many functiosn via the screen, If its illegal to use my phone for text or sat nav on the move, its not to flip 4 pages deep to heat my seat via the TScree? To cap it all have you noticed how little the Porsche press machine has mentioned the exhaust note.
I think that must be because its not great relative to pre emission test cars.
So as we near Christmas, I'm not itching for a new 992 S, I'm itching for some better weather to drive the GTS again. Its nice when a buying decision reminds you as often as buying a 991.2 GTS or 991.1 GTS or 997 GTS for that matter, that it was in comparison to the vast array of purchases we make, one of the very best ones. I think pre and post emission test cars will be an unintended water shed for the 911. Not quite air to water but important none the less.
I’m sure it will sell very well - but it’s not for me
Not too worried about numbers personally a well run company is more important - it’s possible to keep quality high even as numbers go up
In fact I would argue the exact opposite , as production numbers go up it’s possible to increase production standards with more specialised machines, more r&d etc - look at say a 911 vs an Aston for depth of quality and design , Aston might have the edge in some of the leather quality , stitching etc but a modern 911 blows it away in design terms.
The difficult is the numerous cases where manufactures short term monitors a brand by ramping up production without keeping a QC eg Fender guitars.
Given Porsche’s recent track record I would give them at least the benefit of doubt maintaining quality control.

Personally I think the interior quality in the new Cayenne is worse than the old one. Some of it is actually quite low rent...In fact I would argue the exact opposite , as production numbers go up it’s possible to increase production standards with more specialised machines, more r&d etc - look at say a 911 vs an Aston for depth of quality and design , Aston might have the edge in some of the leather quality , stitching etc but a modern 911 blows it away in design terms.

ive found a number of places who will paint them.... however I asked the porsche service guy and he said the warranty would be invalidated if I did it.... fun police.
something about the centrelock mating which didnt apply to the normal wheels. The OPC said they would do normal wheels, but not the CL's.
all sounded like bks but what can you do.

Maybe not worth taking the risk then!something about the centrelock mating which didnt apply to the normal wheels. The OPC said they would do normal wheels, but not the CL's.

If they're the same as the Turbo wheels I guess you could buy a set of them and sell yours?

I had mine painted by the OPC prior to delivery, no mention of any warranty issues.something about the centrelock mating which didnt apply to the normal wheels. The OPC said they would do normal wheels, but not the CL's.

I used to have a severe aversion to black wheels on cars (almost as much as I dislike Privacy Glass). However, I love them on my GTS - it's what makes the car look mean and everyone comments on how much they like the wheels (which is a surprise). Will be interesting to see photos of your's when finished.

My OPC has quoted me £120 / wheel plus VAT so they are going to be done.
I have a couple of little bits that need sorting under warranty so I am just sorting out a booking for these bits and the wheels.
Cheers
Interesting, can you let me know the OPC and will give them a call. It was Wilmslow who told me they cant do it. Assuming yours are centrelocks?I have a couple of little bits that need sorting under warranty so I am just sorting out a booking for these bits and the wheels.
Cheers

Hi Mike
Yes it has centre locks it’s a 991.2 GTS just like the one in the photo above, Porsche Wolverhampton.

Been thinking of getting mine painted too and as Wolverhampton is my local opc that’s good to know.
