I also had a failed PADM at 23k miles, replaced under extended warranty. 2 weeks later the other PADM failed.. also replaced under warranty. No definitive explanation from OPC as to why they failed in such a close time span, possibly one not working correctly put strain on the other??
Apart from that it's an amazing car- Owned it from new (991.2 C4 GTS)
I had padm failure in the gt3 and 3 weeks later the other one failed ,it’s very common ,and why any car with padm needs to be bought with a warranty ,or put aside a few grand .

I've been watching 991.2's for several months now, with a view to getting a low milage one to use lightly as a 'weekend' 3rd car, and to keep/use as a small man maths "investment" (BIG deposit currently sat in the bank earning fk all interest so why not use it and get some fun from it). But the OPC prices seem to be all over the place due to the chip shortage and lead times. Cars have gone up £5k-£10k since January, and there appears to be no consistency in regards to price v spec v year v milage. The only thing that appears to be a 'must have' is the glass sunroof. Cars without it have seemingly stuck around, but there might be other reasons (which drew me to this thread as it appears in a google search on GTS specs).

Just a few examples of the weird price range...

05/2017 - 20k miles - £88k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
08/2017 - 15k miles - £93k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
03/2018 - 11k miles - £99k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
03/2018 - 11k miles - £93.5k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
03/2018 - 17k miels - £90k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
05/2018 - 8k miles - £95k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...
03/2019 - 11k miles - £95k https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-GT...

Having plugged the reg numbers into WBAC etc (I know, I know, these are only guidelines), some aren't far off the current auction values and some are miles off, but even then it feels very speculative rather indicative market value pricing.

In my head I'm sold on Miami/Crayon/Lava with glass roof, rev camera, LED's and a few other small items, but I fear it's too risky to make the jump in if I ever want to see the cash I'd put down as a deposit, ever again.

I had a simialr experience when I bought my 991.2 GTS in October last year.
I had an embarrassingly geeky excel spreadsheet going and tracked about 50 991.2 GTS cars on the porsche finder over a few months, looking at spec, miles, prices etc.

What i noticed was that the cars with both GTS packs, glass roof, LEDs, Bose and cruise control seemed to disappear very quickly.
Surpisingly, a huge number of cars didn't have both GTS packs although i know that alcantara and an extra £5k is not up everyone's alley so as to speak.
I tracked the prices and sometimes cars would change by £5k overnight.
Miami and crayon seemed to be the rarest colours at the time.

I ended up pouncing on late 2017 crayon with 12k on the clock for £85k, which was very well specced with all of the above and burmester sound, 18 way seats which i wouldn't have specced myself.
But as you observe, prices seem to have increased considerably since then. Perhaps £5 to £10k extra in some cases which fits with what you said.
Either way, it's worth waiting for the right car i think irrespective of current market dynamcics because that's what you will appreciate everytime you get in the car.
Because i was tracking all the cars it meant that when the right one popped up i could go for it immediately and not get FOMO !

Hi I’ve been reading this post with interest…two weeks ago I bought a low miles GTS pdk and pretty happy with it. My only criteria when looking was ..no sunroof as could be trouble in long term (and ac brilliant on these cars) and no red rev counter as it looks naff to me.. funny how individual taste differs . Only done 600ish miles but compared to my old 991s ( which I really liked ) the performance is in another dimension. The old 3.8 engine was a masterpiece of engineering in all conditions , even slogging through the city the easy throttle control made a satisfying drive. The new 3.0 car surprises me sometimes by dropping into 6th at 30mph! and feeling bit rough at very low revs. My old car would never attempt that keeping the revs slightly higher before change up. In my short ownership I’m very satisfied and looking good for some summer fun.

I made an appointment to visit a dealer this morning that had 2 in stock. One well specced, one basic (no sunroof, no interior pack etc). My conclusions have swayed my personal judgements on 'options'.

1. Glass Roof - must have (for me)
2. LED headlights - no longer bothered, given it'll be a 3rd/weekend car, especially as you get the '4 dots' on the xenons anyway
3. BOSE - no longer bothered, standard system is adequate enough.
4. Reversing Camera - on the fence with this one. Not a deal breaker but a nice too have
5. Miami Blue is now my number one colour choice. What a colour in the metal! So much nicer than pictures demonstrate.

... and the big one. Having not been bothered about the car having the GTS interior package, this is now a 'must have' for me. The car felt so much more special and premium than the standard interior car. Each time I got in and out the alcantara elements, the carbon trim, the stitching, the colour highlights added so much more to the car's feel.

Price wise, lots of normal dealer bullst about 'not a penny off' etc, but when discussing numbers the reality showed there is some wiggle room in price. I'll be a call this week to a few finance brokers on a few cars currently for sale, to see if I can get close to my target price. The dealer said that they would try to match any broker quote, but we'll see.

Having recently bought a GTS myself and what your looking at I observed the following

Pan roof, My no.1 option and more sought after with than without. In use I have found it a perfect compromise for me and my last two pork were full verts. Its airy when closed and quiet when open. The 993 sunroofs I had were terrible with booming.

The two GTS interior packs are my preferred option for the reasons you highlight and for sure a GTS without leather dash is harder to sell although leather interior does sell if the colour is ok.

Miami is a marmite colour I quite like it but those on my straw poll didnt but i have noticed GTS in this colour are slow to move so if you go for it bid them in the nuts.

The Miami rear seat delete GTS at Wolverhampton OPC seems unsaleable ( due to the rear seat delete I think)

Bose is one of the resale options.

I collected this 991.2 C4GTS 6 weeks ago having sold my Boxster GTS. Sunroof, GTS interior, RAS, BOSE, PDLS, reversing camera, 18-way seats. Loving the broad power delivery with the turbo engine compared to the ‘all top end’ power in the Boxster. MrsH much happier as well, likes speed/power but not the high revs that went with it. Sunroof gives the cabin a nice airy feel, particularly when just tilted open and the sports exhaust makes just the right noises (for me anyway), the BGTS was a tad embarrassing at times. The rear spoiler rises at 60mph but with the sunroof open it rises a bit more at 80mph (apparently). One small surprise so far is fuel economy; a typical stop/start trip in ‘normal mode’ round the M25 returned 39mpg!

The photo doesn’t do the colour justice.

Looks lovely, and a nice spec too, especially with the RAS and PDLS!

I know it's a 4GTS rather than a GTS that I'm looking for, but do you mind me asking what year/milage it is, OPC or Indi, and what you actually gave for it? (Feel free to email me if you'd prefer)

Sure, OPC, 2018 plate, 16K miles and £91K. Pricing seemed to take off a bit within two weeks of me buying it.

Thanks, that certainly puts into perspective current 'punchy' prices being asked for much lesser vehicles! What was the screen price? smile

I’d driven 2 hours to see a bright blue 911 on a beautiful sunny day, there was never going to be much movement from the screen price.

Lava Orange GTS?

I'm no Porsche geek, but there's a Lava Orange 3.8 GTS on sale with full Aero kit, looks awesome to me, but what's the must haves? Is the colour too over the top for Porsche fans?

Silly question, but, what is one supposed to do if picking up a puncture with the centerlocks?
Is it RAC/AA time?

Is it possible to retrofit Apple Carplay to a 991.1 with PCM?

And... is the cab really that bad?

I drive a 2015 911 GTS Cabriolet, and have experience on all your questions.

1. Yes Centrelocks required flatbed to OPC after puncture on M23

2. If you are under warranty you will need to wait for Porsche to offer CarPlay as its only available aftermarket and will invalidate warranty if fitted. Porsche have offered it on 996 but no news when I enquired a few months ago

3. My cabriolet is Carmine Red and a stunning car to drive, plus you get the benefit of listening to the amazing sports exhaust of the n/a engine in the open air.

Thanks Cyb.

Does an aftermarket CarPlay kit invalidate the whole warranty, or just the PCM/electronics?

Yes but it doesn't matter whether you have centerlocks or standard 5-stud wheels, either way you'll need assistance as these cars do not carry a spare wheel.

Mind you, if one is feeling lucky, there's a can of sealant and compressor in the frunk.
