Not had mine long and loving it....Had the car wrapped twice already 2nd time in matt the original gloss had an orange peel effect that you don't notice on a swatch sample! I had the car chipped at Ninemeisters by Wayne Schofield and it flies now what a difference. I have the Titanium exhaust on that I bought off a chap on 911UK and I have just put the Turbo decals on (I know bit boy racer and I am 60 should know better!)

I also have had quite a few bits of trim carbon dipped and a couple of real carbon dash parts I think they look great at a fraction of the Porsche carbon prices.

but that red 996 turbo is a great advert, lots of detail with superb pictures, other dealers could learn from that, credit where its due

shame its not for sale

Thank you for the kind comments. And sticking up for yourself is not being a hard man, anyway
I concede I can be a touch colorful now and again, though most of it is in jest and this is
sadly lost on most people, if you knew me you would get it. People from Glasgow are a bit
different when it comes to confrontation, and often this can be a challenge for others, anyone
who has spent time up here will get that, and that's not me looking for more confrontation.

Nemo me impune lacessit. As Laidlaw says: “The wee message carved on the heart of Glasgow.
Visitors are advised not to be cheeky.” Lol

My experience with most dealers is poor prep (don't know how), unable to work a camera, lazy, and when
the sit down to write an advert they freeze, a variety of reasons for that last point which I
wont go into. Every day I get calls and emails from people stating that they have never seen cars so
well presented or with such detail, and I am not blowing my own trumpet when I say that currently
I don't know of anyone who can market a car as well. On a weekly basis almost I have customers buy
cars blind, wiring over thousands of pounds and awaiting the car arriving on a transporter, this
will sound alien to most, however the adverts are a virtual tour, and when you present at that level
its a reality.

And once again and as updated below, the car is not for sale.

No offence and please do not take any, all down to personal taste however I think that looks
bloody awful. Lose the wrap, decal off and wheels back to Silver and you have a car again,
I am struggling to think what box that even fits into. Dont be offended, just my opinion.

Well if you can point me in the direction of someone that does it better I will gladly take
tips from it? Its something that has evolved over the last 13 years, was not as pro when I started out, though the
enthusiasm was always present.

I don't want to post on a public forum for lots of reasons what I got for it, it went
to Thailand, same buyer bought that one and the White 964 C2 the same day, paid in full
for both within a week and they will be both hard to replace.
Needless to say I then took the rest of the week off and retired to the Golf club.
Issue with most 964 and pre 89 cars is the engines need rebuilding and its getting dearer
and dearer to have it done, sure they will have some life left in them however the difference
with an engine overhaul is night and day

[/quotePersonally- and this runs counter to the accepted, anal retentive 'keep it original' Porschefan party line - I like to see people creating a car they want. Turning turbos into GT2 replicas, making G series into 2.7 RS lookalikes, really, who can get too bothered?! We're all here for just a few spins of the globe and then we're gone forever, so why worry about what other people think?

I spoke to Ken at the time, and your interpretation of what he told you was quite different from what he told me.

Is it unfortunate that you bought a car and then found the clutch slipped? Yes, and I'm sorry if that is the case. But, as I said at the time I did not slip for me and it did not slip for my mechanic who had it a couple of days before the sale. I also advised you of what I felt tipped it over the edge if it slipped when you got it.

As I'm sure you remember, you were concerned when you called about it that the clutch had not been done on a 60k car - which is why you then sent me a mail after you'd received the car saying it was an excellent car, pulled strongly and the clutch did NOT slip. A day or two later you mailed me to tell me it did slip, it was obvious and anybody would notice. When I told you my mechanic - and has worked on Ferraris for his entire working life would vouch that it didn't - you then told me that only somebody with your experience would know.

Based on all that, how am I to blame? I genuinely would not sell a car with a known fault. As I told you at the time - and as a dealer you know very well - the car was sold pretty cheap - £31,500 if I recall, for a full history 2 owner car. Even a year ago that was underpriced - I could very easily have put a clutch in and absorbed the cost in an increased sale price if I had known it had a problem, and would have done so.

I don't really understand the reason for bringing this up. You've had the car over a year now and have posted several times how much you like it. Why start attacking me on a public forum? Am I sorry you had unexpected expense? Yes. Did I knowingly sell a car with a fault - and did 9E tell me the clutch slipped when they mapped it? Absolutely not.

I have no intention of turning this thread into an argument about a car I sold a year ago, so I will leave it at that. I sold the car with one fault I knew about - the sunroof which I told you about. To my knowledge, the clutch did not ever slip in my ownership. I'm sorry if it needed replacing soon after you got it, but glad it's now become a car you seem happy with.
Thank you Dave, that's good enough for me
For clarification, Dave's car was iirc in the first group of cars that we tuned. It had a stock clutch and we tuned it back then to the point that the clutch would slip, and then backed it off leaving a good margin for longevity on the clutch - iirc correctly Dave ran thousands of miles without issue. I cannot remember every conversation word for word, but back then the car gave a good result on a stock clutch (running just over 9.25 seconds to 60-130mph against 11.95).

Today we will not tune a car without an upgraded clutch. Our stage 1/2 tuning packages will not work with a stock clutch - it will simply slip immediately even if a new stock clutch has been installed. We have progressed substantially in terms of tuning.

Regarding a clutch slipping, what I can say is this - on a tuned car, it tends to be very quick - we had for example a car in last week with a non 9e tune on, which on the first two test runs show no signs of slippage. On the third test run we conducted the clutch gave up and slipped badly. On a non tuned car it tends to be a little less dramatic in its failure.

Good article. I own a 996 turbo and have also driven a 991 that looked near identical to the one they tested (at the PEC Silverstone). I was actually impressed with the 991, but it felt very modern and refined inside and getting back into the 996 was a bit of a culture shock but actually, from a driver's POV as a 'fun' car (rather than everyday) it felt more serious, more racecar-like.

No offence taken at all it's great that we all have different opinions and likes! I personally love bright outlandish colours inside and out of my cars I always have. My last few I have restored prove my point in the pic below (original car on the left) I see too many silver cars with black interiors nearly every Merc and BMW is that colour and I think a Porsche should be a bit more in your face so to speak, but I totally agree not to everyone's taste that's for sure!

I have rarely been calmer.

What is interesting is that in order for you to 'like the sound of me' you have to get me to your gig first. Something you have spectacularly failed to do.

Good luck to you though. It's a very unique approach.

No, I need to listen to the cut of your jib on the phone and decide on that basis.
And I don't need luck, or wishes from you.
