Hi all,

I need some advice please. I bought a 2012 991 S Cab last week from a main dealer. I looked at the service book this morning and the service record seems a bit odd (the dealer didn't show me the book when I picked it up). It was serviced after a year in 2013 and then again last week before I picked it up so three years later.

My understanding is that the service schedule is at least every two years or sooner if the mileage racks up. Did the car miss a service? My other query is that, although the book is stamped at the back for both services the detail stamp which is earlier on in the book (which lists mileage at the time) is missing. I wonder if the book has been replaced.

Car is lovely by the way, otherwise very pleased with it!

Er, could you not just read the handbook?

I'm under the impression it is every 2 years or mileage dependent. If it has not be servied to schedule then i would have thought this has created a problem with the warranty. Have you got an OPC extended warranty with the car?

Well that's just it - handbook v clear that it's every two years.

Yes car comes with OPC warranty but if it has missed a service - what are implications for value/resale? I didn't think OPC allowed to sell cars with incomplete history?

Sounds odd, since an OPC won't usually trade in cars that don't comply with servicing as they have to offer a limited warranty on all used cars regardless.

Also, I would have thought the warranty extension is now not possible?

Can you share what you find out from the OPC?
I've known OPCs sell cars with missing services. Declaring the situation mind you.

Yes, of course - it does seem odd.

I'd want a letter from the OPC saying all is good.

They've relied upon you looking which you didn't.

Undoubtedly warranty claims will be more difficult if it comes to it.

I'd go back and swap for something else - they've been a bit underhand here, but you should have looked really (sorry).

Extremely unlikely.

The OPC in question is owned by PCGB so it's all very surprising.

You're right I should have looked, but I was never anywhere near the service book and to be honest I just didn't think it was necessary buying from a main dealer.

It shouldn't be.

YOu should get a letter from PGB stating that they'll honour the warranty.

Just realised that what I thought was a service in year one was for a recall (presume that's what a service campaign is?) so only one service in book after four years (the one just done). Will be speaking to OPC tomorrow and will report back, they are collecting the car as they 'forgot to register the MOT with the dvla' so they can carry this out.

The book doesn't always get stamped, but any OPC should have access to the car's full history on its database record.

The OPC should be able to answer the question, and I think I would have asked them before posting on a forum.

Why? I haven't mentioned any names and I think it's valid to ask opinions on a missing service in the book? I agree I'd hope they have a record but if that's so shouldn't they have brought the book up to date.

dO NOT LIKE.

I'd be asking to swap it - speak to to Dealer Principal.

I'm hoping it's simply missing info in the book otherwise I will be rejecting the car
