Most people probably 'know' this car - but at least it's now being honestly advertised.

There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be.
Every stop I make, I make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Down this road that never seems to end,
Where new adventure lies just around the bend.
So if you want to join me for a while,
Just grab your hat, we'll travel light, that's hobo style.

Maybe tomorrow I'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, the whole world is my home.

If the re-shell repair was done well that would be a great drivers car.

Is that the case, or is the repair history not known?

I wonder what the story is there. Doesn't the UK have laws that require (commercial) sellers to disclose such major accident damage?
How did that pass a 111 point check for approved without anybody noticing the re-shell?

Trackday season must have started going by Copart just now. The red car is unrecorded but doesnt look too bad. The blue car looks a bit harder but the mileage is so low its painful.

Seems a fair pitch to me. Repaired and re-sold by Porsche would be enough for me. Would be such a pain to sell on though; has to be a keeper!

My problem is you can buy a normal (legit) 997 GT3 for significantly less, and they're barely any different to drive.

Agreed. Providing it WAS repaired properly I would not be bothered if I was keeping it.

Agreed, but a little bit of reading around the history seems to indicate that it wasn't done by Porsche and wasn't done very well either.

Absolutely.

I can't see the point or the value in it.

Or spend half that on a 997 cup car, have some real track day fun and get your money back when you sell it. A much lower risk v benfit option

On a tangent, did you ever own a Cobra replica?

In theory there should be no issue. In practice the buyer population dries up for this sort of car and resale is a major issue. People say "it's a keeper" but how often is that true? At this price point resale matters to most people. Just look at posts below and you can see how the views flow. My friend bought this car (or an identical one with an identical story) from a specialist a few years ago, found out about its history before he collected it and unwound the deal. I don't think the specialist knew at that point, honest guv.

If it was a race at nobody would be bothered but as a collectable, upper end Porsche the average buyer is looking for low miles, original paint and panels, one lady owner etc etc. For right or wrong that's the norm. Ferrari is even worse in this regard; heaven forbid you use those. None of it is logical but it's the market.
