The original car would have been built by Porsche at the Factory. But who re-built this car?

Mind you, you could say that about lots of major classic restorations.

Looks like a car that needs an age related cherished plate.

You need to read one of the original posts about this car... there were plenty of issues.

I also don't believe it was just a reshell. There is huge structural damage IMO from those photos.
I think a re shell would probably fix the huge structural damage...

Anyway, imagine all the clips that would break taking it apart, all the missing bolts, all the left over nuts, the sqeaks and potential rattles. GT cars are noisy enough smile

What's interesting is that there area huge number of 2.7RS out there that have had significant "spills" in the past and it doesn't appear to affect the values or sale-ability assuming they're in a good condition now. I'd like to know at what point it stops being an issue...or will it always be an issue these days due to the internet and photos everywhere forever now?

i think it's all down to who did the repair work, and how good a job they made of it. Dodgy repairs on older cars may well have been 'fixed' by now as part of a restoration or refresh.

In the case of this car, being a recent repair by a non-Porsche specialist that isn't named, I would err on the side of caution and walk away. £119k is a lot of money to lose!

Why would a buyer lose £119k?

Sorry, I meant you could pay £119k and lose a lot of that in resale/repairs should an issue arise.

Plus if you want to sell you need to find the right buyer who would live with the history. That's potentially a small pool.

Especially when i'm sure that was for sale a few years back at about £50k and still hung around then.

absolutely insane price, the RS was only a £15k premium over the GT3!

anyone who buys an rs at current market values is doing so for collection purposes, which this car doesn't fit.

worth £80k max imo

So assuming this is of similar ilk the pricing isn't miles out.

I looked at one last year that was sold at action and made good money, it hadn't been reshelled. I sure I've read on here before that you can't buy GT3 shell, if that's correct it makes you wonder about these so called reshelled cars.

Just checked the PET and it appears you can get a shell, part No 997 500 900 00. So you can reshell a 997 GT3

What is a shell? I always thought it meant all the panels were replaced or something?

It looks like the rear ceramic discs will need to be replaced asap (Wear indicator showing).

I'm referring to another one that was for sale at 911Sport.
The car in this thread, according to the person who bought it from the OPC was a bad reshell job. The 911Sport one wasn't, but I can't verify who carried out the work.

You'd be surprised how long they'll last even in that state. A friend's has lasted 20k and still going.
