I have just had my car cleaned which involved jet washing. After driving it home I noticed a large strip (2cm by 5cm) of paint has lifted off the front bumper. I contacted my local Porsche dealership to be told that it could not be a warranty claim as there must have been slight damage to the paint that moisture got into and was subsequently lifted by the jet wash. Do I throw my toys out of the pram with the dealership or take it like a brexit Englishman.

Jet washers are very harsh on paintwork and will certainly find any weakspots.

How old is the car and are you aware of any repairs to the bodywork?

In that case take it up with your opc. Paint shouldn't lift if its original and not damaged

It I'll help if you can prove the paint isn't adhered to the bumper properly, that's what I had to do on my wife's X5 (albeit on the bonnet).

Pressure washer often lift clear coat if there's a stone chip for example but should find paint more difficult.

Stand your ground and you should be ok, good luck.

Granted it wasn't jet wash damage, but small areas of paint lifted off my rear quarter panel edges and the opc had the relevant sections resprayed to a phenomenal quality. Stand your ground and believe they will repair it...it's not your fault and a Porsche should have paint that doesn't flake off! A jet wash is hardly different to a 170mph+ run with a bit of damp smile

A close jest wash at high power with a stone chip can well lift paint.

You'll probably find the manual says do not use jet washs!

Porsche are wriggling, however, the extended warranty covers bodywork with preclusion, natural events such as hail etc. The body shop I took it to, Porsche recommended (SL Restoration, recommended very good), though it a paint issue. We shall see. Several comments on lifting paint at Le Mans last weekend and a journalist also took an interest.
