...As others have alluded to GT3s are fairly compromised road car for most tastes...
An urban legend that just does not want to die... GT3s are prefectly usable - and an event - every dayYeah, but that's because you're acclimiatised to it. I used my 997 GT3 as a commuter (with straight pipes!) and would agree, but then i didn't come from a Micra with a feather-light clutch.
I had a 991 GT3 and i would have personally found it fine as a daily, but the reality is the stereo was an absolute joke, NVH was worse due to less sound proofing, a tightly stacked 7th gear meant motorway cruising wasn't 'relaxing', and although the ride was great in the main, it had a constant 'jiggle' which my bladder didn't appreciate (i'm 30, not 70...).
So, whilst perfectly adequete, just jump into a 991 Turbo and there is night and day difference. Jump in to a Bentley, and it's another step change.
This is why most NORMAL people would not view a GT3 as an everyday proposition - it is still compromised.

I think that the issue. Involving cars need effort and imput from the driver and in doing so take energy from him/her. thats why people buy them. Generally that is why people buy them as second or third cars. I would love a 991 Gen 2 as a daily but would never consider selling an earlier GT3.
Although the Gen2 991 GT3 may be offered with a manual box, i think it likely that most will still be specced with a PDK box so maunaul supply for those who want an 'all rounder' manual will be very limited. I dont see anything changing with the advent of a manual option for the 991. There just are not enough cars around wearing a GT3 badge.

Fully enough I ran a W12 and a V8 Conti in parallel for a while. They were nice cruisers and the V8 surprisingly talented when pushed. The extra refinement did not do much for me though (it did for my wife ) I had a 991 GT3 and i would have personally found it fine as a daily, but the reality is the stereo was an absolute joke, NVH was worse due to less sound proofing, a tightly stacked 7th gear meant motorway cruising wasn't 'relaxing', and although the ride was great in the main, it had a constant 'jiggle' which my bladder didn't appreciate (i'm 30, not 70...).

i have both the 997.2 RS and the GT4. both manual right?
driving experience could not be more different and not just due to the mid/rear engine layout.
I think if the 997 RS or for that matter the 996 RS drops in price, it'll be time to add again. I'm convinced the 991+ generation GT cars are never going to be the same as the mezger engine cars. I've always said you win some ,you lose some. It's just different so I simply do not think mezger engined GT cars will be dragged down by a new GT with a stick shift.
dream on guys.

+ 1 - not just the engine - so much more than the sum of its parts driving experience could not be more different and not just due to the mid/rear engine layout.

Does anyone know about this one? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...
Fraid not - looks nice though - they really are the dogs danglies Bumped into it while the missus was shopping down the road and I made an unscheduled visit to the local toy shop. Didn't quite realise just how much these were these days, but would seem to be one of the more stable investments out there once you get beyond the initial purchase price. I recently did an AV/HVAC install for similar money, so looks relatively good value

It's my business - Audio Visual and Heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Very dull...
Ah fair enough - so all you need is a 100% margin and you're there ! (Hadn't clocked the lack of PCCB's) sounds like the JZM car mentioned is better value - if there is such a thing) Slippydiff said:

Nice overall spec.
Been on the market for some time now, Good colour (IMO), ceramics, buckets, begs the question, why hasn't it sold.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
Nice overall spec.

Another 2 months on and it's still there. Anyone know how long it's been on the market for or know the car ? Might have a look when I'm next in the area although would prefer a CS, there are a few on the continent that are quite tempting.
Evening I'd say it's been 5 months now (minimum).SignalGruen said:

imo it's £15k over priced hence it's not soldThe last nicer one went sub £98k from an OPC with less than 1/2 the miles and that took 6+ months to sell, it's a very small market and the GT4 is a very good and more usable GT car for less £
£95k is the target price imo but that means sub 15k miles and bucket seats, other wise they just sit for sale months.

£95k won't get you a sub 15k bucket seat car now will it. Its the miles that will be putting people off on this one and yes, as a result its overpriced. The last nicer one went sub £98k from an OPC with less than 1/2 the miles and that took 6+ months to sell, it's a very small market and the GT4 is a very good and more usable GT car for less £

£110k for a nice low mileage bucket car which is rare as most bucket seat cars I've seen have been CS spec and 115 - 120k although about a year ago you would be looking at under 110k from JZM - white one was £108k
There aren't many Gen 2 cars about for sale so pricing is unpredictable plus there does seem to be a lot of GT 997 stuff on the market. People with this much money to spend will possibly be waiting for a 991.2 and if they don't get one, you'll quite possibly see the 997's selling again.
