Find it odd how some OPC's are accepting deposits and others aren't, shouldn't deposits be taken on confirmation of allocation?
Totally correct. Confirmed allocation allows the dealer to then take a deposit. I also understand that Porsche are being very vigilant over this to avoid another Boltongate! (Was Bolton wasn't it?) I assume accounts will be audited by Porsche and I guess those dealerships who choose to disobey the rules will be penalised in some way.

My OPC is happy to take a deposit BUT won't guarantee an allocation, and said so in writing...
Still I think my chances are low as the waiting list is already 15+ people long...

My brother went to an OPC in the continent and was told they could order RHD there. Probably more likely that we would get a slot. Would a RHD car from the continent have same warranty/protection here as a UK car, and same value on resale?
Feel sure there would a warranty, though not a UK warranty! Bit of a difficult one. Why would Porsche UK feel obliged to warrant a vehicle that they hadn't supplied. Probably best to ask your OPC.

If true - and who really knows? - then it could seriously damage the market.

Who would want a 991.1 GT3 if anyone can get a .2 at list? And, early buyers may well be tempted to sell out quickly, whilst there's a brief profit window. Prices will surely tumble.

This in turn will compress 991RS prices, and then 997 GT3 and RS prices and GT4s. As these become cheaper and more attainable, silly prices for 996RSs GT3s, 993s, 964s, etc will disappear. The 911R might well be special, but not £400k special - perhaps halve that.

And, as the wider market sees Porsches deflating, confidence elsewhere will start to diminish and that 'safe investment' will start looking like 'a risky prospect'. Joe Bloggs, who can justify a six-figure GT or RS because it's "better than money in the building society", will be off. And visits to the dealers at 'trade in' time will once again be greeted with a sharp intake of breath.

And this will, in turn take the shine off their mainstream products, which have basked in the glow of the halo GT models.

Great for those who want these cars to be readily available at affordable prices. But will we still want them without the 'exclusivity' tag?

Maybe it was bound to happen eventually, but Porsche could well be accelerating the process.

Jesus!!! LOL Did you read this drivel back to yourself before posting...

I think there is a lot of BS flying about. I recon DPs already know their allocation amounts.

Annoying that so many people are left in Limbo on what is clearly a very desirable car.

My big question even amongst PH'ers is who would, spec Manual and who would spec PDK and why?
As I'm sure not 100% of people on here would go manual (not sure on weight penalty of PDK? never mind the different in emotional and physical involvement).

Also the 2 black intakes under the wing, do you think you'd be able to get those painted by CXX or otherwise?
Notice on the Cup Cars there is one continuous intake not 2 ; wonder why? Think I prefer the look of one.

Anyways - not really a fan of uncouth money chat when all I want is my shiny new GT3 - TO DRIVE, POLISH & LOOK AT WITH A COLD BEER IN MY HAND wink
Plus 1 !!! That's what it's all about. The worst part at the moment is not knowing.

How the fk he gets one on the back of his media prescence when say Chris Harris seemingly hasn't been able to get hold of any of the recent GT cars.
No idea what Chris Harris has, or hasn't applied for but I popped my name down for 991.2 GT3 literally years ago, if I had to guess it was roughly summer 2014. I don't know if that translates to a car or not at some point further down the allocations, but I intend to grow out a car collection and why would I want to do so without any Porsches?

The initial run of GT4s was something just over 100 in the UK if I remember rightly and we ended up with about 600; anybody who actually persisted in trying to get one did so eventually. I guess I'm hoping GT3 does similarly, if it doesn't then that's life.

I have only watched a few of his vids. Pagani, Macca 675 LT and a couple of his early vids. Yes I agree they are average (and improving) but why is he obnoxious? He comes across as the most polite young man I've ever seen vlogging. I also love the fact that he's got off his behind and turned his passion into a business making him a tidy living and he answers to no-one. I think his best vlog was actually on his friends vlog re 570S - his product knowledge on Maccas is very impressive and in that particular vlog he came across as confident and to date its his best blog by far.

You say you're not jealous but Jesus a few of the comments about him on here make me feel embarrassed to be a PH member - simply green eyed monster.

Anyway he's driving and owns LT Spyder, Aston, Fezza, soon GT40 and soon 991.2 GT3 and he's in his 20s or 30s. Amazeballs!

He needs to learn to drive like a certain Mr Harris and then may go even further. He also needs to stop being so formal and polite on his vlogs - I find them too straight laced with very little depth about what the car is like at its limits and any negatives. He's one of the few people out there in the motor industry who can be independent if he wants to about product reviews hence he's very well positioned to become an important figure in the motor industry (if he isn't already).

I've seen he's posted on here - my advice would be not to rise to it.
Plus 1. If you you don't like the guy don't watch his videos! Simples.

Has anyone honestly got a confirmed allocation which in turn means that they have a genuine order complete with commission number for a new GT3 Gen 2 ? My information is that UK OPC's at this moment in time still do not have confirmed allocation.

P.S No more slagging and bad feeling please. It's bad enough living on a knife edge without all the BS. smile

I must say I met shmee at the 'Icons by the Lake' meet a few months back when we were the first two at the convoy location. (I was in my Silver GT3rs he was in his 675lt) spent a good 10-15 mins talking with him. I was never a massive fan but must say he's a really nice chap and a real Petrol head. He then spent the rest of the day talking to and taking photo with all the kids and followers who kept coming up to him. The fact he wants to buy the car we all want is a good thing in my book and there will be lots of videos to watch. (Only if you want 2)

Red stripe on road wheels or steering wheels?
Don't really care, just really want one to love, enjoy and drive. I miss the nights in my garage with a glass of red and my awesome GT3RS. 991 GT3 Gen 2 would be just perfect.!!

So, as an update; no UK OPC has an official confirmed allocation which in turn means that nobody has a confirmed build. So the wait goes on; unless of course you are one of those posters who are so totally deluded and are convinced you are getting a car.

Is that aimed at me. Thank you for calling me "deluded" flipper

I know I will have a car through my OPC, believe what you want, it will make no difference to my life wink
Never mentioned the word "flipper"

Just had Evo delivered, nice article about the object of our desire! Porsche reckon 60/40 split in favour of manual, Interesting and quite surprising. Sounds like the new GT3 is going to have one hell of an engine. Looking forward to reading the first road test. I reckon Henry Catchpole will be the first to do so. Top Gear must still be filming so maybe Chris Harris will get a chance to do his thing on a future episode.

err, ok, well anyway.. the RS has the 918 buckets and they're letting anyone slide in and out like it's a carnival ride. It was my first time in an RS and I'll def spec the fixed buckets for the GT3
Had fixed buckets in our GT3RS and now in the GT4. To put it simply they are superb. Unbelievably comfortable. As I have dodgy knees from motorcycle crashes I need supportive comfortable seats. The number of times I must have remarked that I have not shifted my position whilst on a really long trip is surprising.

Anyway , where were we? Nice initial report in Car magazine. They describe it as being a little softer though I would guess that would be for normal driving. Push the suspension button and all is restored.
