To confuse matters more..... the answer could be a 'two car solution'
You're not the first, and won't be the last to say that to me. Unfortunately, I don't have the discipline to not use the best car on the driveway everyday hence I always try and find a one-size-fits-all solution. Typically I have succeeded with most of my previous cars (even R8), with maybe only the SLS in my car history not really being appropriate for everyday use.

Being an AMG guy I'm surprised the new E63 isn't in the pool. Seems an awesome car as a dd.
I'm not struck on the looks. We considered one to replace the Cayenne, but instead opted for the Macan turbo. We had two of the W212's over the years and I actually liked the taxi-like design of it (utilitarian I think they call it!). New one is too curvy, but I am sure it's a masterpiece to drive. However it will make even 911 Turbo S residuals look almost positive, so it's very much a car to consider after it's been out a couple of years and Merc inevitably provide big support on them.

Your R8 looks great in that colour.
The 991 turbo drives quite a bit different from the 997.2 TTS that I had a go in; especially how it turns in and can be prompted to move about under power. The 997 feels just as fast straight line when on song, but doesn't seem to get off the mark as quickly. Both make a Carrera feel slowish.
If you want to wring the neck out of a car and have lots of fun at not monster speeds then as some others have said get a Cayman for that.

Don't think you will want for pace in either , yes the Turbo S is faster, but 0-100 in 8s is fast enough and the combination of the turbo torque + RWD is awesome, its more like a mini GT2 than a GT3 imo, ofc we are all guessing at this point based on the 991.2 S.
The other impressive stat about the GTS is its 7:22 ring time (P-Zeros). The 991 GT3 is a 7:20 car so that is very very impressive. The 991 Turbo S is 7:18. In short I would not pick any of these cars over another just based on their pace for road use.
For me I like the GTS, its combination of RWD , >> 997 GT3 power and torque, and looks way better than turbo.
....but I would not option one up to 130k !

Bonkers more than 20 secs faster than a 7 GT3. Still I'd have the 7 GT3However i dont know of this is now using the algorithm to interpolate speed restricted sections
So, quick update on this. R8 has now gone back to Audi, and I'm sure the next lucky owner will pick up where I've left off.
After careful consideration, I decided I really wasn't wowed by the Turbo S enough. It was always going to be a challenge after the event that the R8 was, and when I was really honest with myself I knew I just preferred driving the C2S. Therefore, on the basis that the GTS is billed to be even better than a C2S, I have opted for a C4 GTS
Should arrive sometime in early summer and as I suggested before, it's going to be somewhat preposterously spec'd. But it'll be tremendous I'm sure;
Carmine red
Black 20" centre locks
Black / red-highlight GTS alcantara interior
Lots of alcantara / leathery extras to spice up the inside
All the trick (and bloody expensive ) chassis options like PDCC, -20mm, RWS, ceramics etc
PDK
Radar cruise (it's going to pound up and down the M1)
Burmester

Has it arrived yet? How are you getting on with it, if so?After careful consideration, I decided I really wasn't wowed by the Turbo S enough.
