Hi Jonny. I've owned 2 991 GT3s (both clubsport; one on steel brakes, the other on ceramics), and a 991 GT3 RS, and done many miles in them - they're both incredible cars. If anything, the engine noise of the standard 991 GT3 at it's 9,000 red line, sounds a little more manic than the RS's engine at 8,800.

Even though the earliest cars are almost 4 years old now, if you buy from an official Porsche centre, you'll get a proper warranty. You may have read that some of the early cars had replacement engines (my first one did) but I wouldn't let that concern you - it didn't concern me.

In answer to your question though, as to where selling prices be in 2 years time, not easy to predict, but based on past performance of GT cars, its probably the slowest depreciating car that Porsche make. As with other makes, specification has quite an impact on residual value. I'd only buy a car with front chassis lift, but steel brakes v ceramics, or clubsport v comfort spec is just down to your personal taste or needs.

I love the 911 Turbo, but it has a fairly steep depreciation curve, and its extra weight over even a C2S, can make it feel a little blunt at times, despite it being monumentally fast....

With regard to the effect on the launch of the gen 2 991.2 GT3 on values of the gen 1 GT3 which you asked about - availability of this new car is never going to satisfy global demand, so my view is that it shouldn't affect the values of the gen 1 car....but please don't take my word for it, and base your purchase on my opinion....!

Just had a chat with my friendly dealer and really interesting if a bit depressing. He said they get around 3 to 6 on allocation and they had over 40 letters of intent months and years ago for it. He suggested me putting in a letter of intent now for the new model due in 18 months to 2 years time. He also said that its not entirely first come first served, they take into account whether you have bought before and are you local. So if I wait, buy another model off them in the meantime, give them a letter of intent now .. I may possibly be able to buy one in the future

I would rather miss out altogether and buy older 2nd hand cars than have to buy abogo standard Porsche off them to qualify as worthy. In any event these short term supply issues don't last i.e. Maybe another 3 years. Before the flipping market disappears again
