My first GT too.

Wing, flat paint, buckets and cage, 12 o'clock marker, I'm ticking them all.

Hadn't appreciated that - thought first batch all PDK?
I have a Sept build GT3 with a choice of manual or PDK which makes no difference in timing as both gearboxes are coming through the same time.I'm picking up a new 991.2GTS PDK tomorrow so i'll wait to see how i get on with the PDK before the final decision on which box to get on my GT3..

Fwiw, I'm pretty sure there are many differences between PDK and PDK -S.

No creep and much more brutal changes are the key differentiators I believe but others will hopefully shed more light.......

Aaarghhhh, Phooey... I will be completely unproductive in the coming weeks just going through this site wink
You think that's taken your time

Oh and I doubt you have weeks to spec your PTS for October. My wife's PTS Boxster is being built in October and already has a "Pre-Production" status on the OPC computer system. The OPC queried it with Porsche GB who replied and said it means they're ordering the paint!

Given factory shut down's etc over August I'd get it in relatively soon. Certainly wouldn't leave it more than a couple of weeks. Maybe a few late nights beckon biggrin Quality problem....

My take on this is if i'm super impressed with the latest version of the PDK on the GTS and making a pretty safe assumption that the latest PDK s on the new GT3 will be better still i'm going to find it very difficult not to tick the PDK box when the time comes to lockdown the final spec..

Correct, creep is a feature on the GT3 version of PDK

I have a 991.2 GTS PDK, and having just come out of a 991 GT3 RS, the gearchange speed and feel is indistinguishable between both cars. One thing which is different is that in Sport+, the RS had a weird 'surge' on full throttle upshifts. It felt as if it was programmed in, and I didn't like it. This feature isn't present on the 991.2 GTS in Sport+

That weird surge as you quite correctly point out on the 991.1GT3 is also thankfully not a feature on the 991.2GT3 and if it was it would have been a deal breaker for me and consequently ticking the manual box would have been an easy choice...

Nooooooooooooooo... I think I'm out for the rest of the week wink

He was pushing to show me paint samples. Could well be that I cannot dwell too long over this choice. What a first world problem to have

There's a few people waiting to hear on 2018 build slots....myself included. My understanding is OPC know how many cars they are getting through to May next year i.e. this production year. I don't think OPC's will know on those early 2018 build slots until after the summer.

A couple of people seem to have had October build slots confirmed very recently...not sure if anyone has one yet after that.

Personally I don't think there will be another batch of cars beyond that....GT4 and definitely one of GT2 RS/GT3RS and potentially both coming....not sure how much that will impact on manufacturing capability for other GT cars i.e. GT3. They made GT4 and GT3 RS in parallel so maybe that's not an issue. There will also be some kind of Porshe Exclusive run out model for 991 too.

With a new 911 due in two years time it's hard to see all those being squeezed in and GT3 run being extended. Hope I'm wrong though!

Different factories - Osnabruk for the GT4 and Zuffenhausen for the GT3 smile

That's the best confirmation I'm aware of that the Touring Pack really is coming. What is your build date?
Likely October. Dealer has several slots and claims that he will get me into the PTS window

Whats everyone's thoughts on the clubsport package - It seems to command a premium on previous generations but surely this is due to the fact less people ticked the box when new so it now commands the premium because it's rare? Are people choosing clubsport on the basis that it will be more desirable when selling on at a later date rather than actually wanting/needing it?

I'm undecided as I intend to use the car mostly for the road..

Yes most OPCs took initial deposits on the cars announcement based on their likely allocation of the first two production runs of around 10 cars which would mean a UK total of c350 cars v the 991.1 total of 332.

Must admit the possibility of a third run of c5 cars per OPC is looking less likely notwithstanding the fact that more GT4s were allocated than initially thought.

Possibility of OPCs learning of 2018 build slots in late July but agree more likely September post August factory shutdown.

I have been considering this option but not sure I like the idea of having the holes in the carpet, trim etc

Most people do not spec CS on GT3's which can be seen by 2nd hand values of 997 CS cars maybe fetching more.
991 CS even less orders for CS pack.

I don't see the point in CS spec cars, they add loads of weight, makes noises etc etc.

order what YOU want as the GT3 will fetch overs you are pretty much free to spec it just how you want it, is than not the biggest plus point buying a new car ?

The 911R did not have a cage ! and they go for £400k you can spec a GT3 just like an R if you wish or wanted an R in the 1st place.

taking the cage out seems stupid as it will leave holes every where, just spec the car how you want it, PH is a very small % of owners, most only interested in values.

Thank you for your input,

I generally do spec the car I want rather than for resale and in this case the future value has very little to do with my decision. As someone who's new to the GT3 I am unsure as I think the cage might add to the 'experience'

I think a lot of the lure of the CS is that in the second hand market there are very few (if any) non CS cars that have bucket seats. I think it might be Bucket Seats that people really want as they transform the driving experience and really differentiate the car from a "normal" 911.

My guess is if you spec a GT3 like the R i.e. Buckets, no cage and PCCB's that's your perfect road spec and will be equally as popular as the CS.

I am struggling to think of a 991.1 GT3 I've seen on the market specced with buckets and no cage. I am sure people will prove me wrong within the hour!
