I am going with Crayon.
In one of the videos at launch Andreas P talked about the tyres on the Gen 2 being better in the wet and making the car more useable. Anyone know if this is actually the case and if the tyres are actually different on the Gen 2?
Definetly new tyres as in Cup 2 Mark 2. My understanding is that they offer improved grip to the slight detriment of wet and cold weather grip. To be honest I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Probably best not to read the handbook or you will be a bag of nerves driving the thing if the temperature drops below nine degrees let alone if it starts raining as well !In one of the videos at launch Andreas P talked about the tyres on the Gen 2 being better in the wet and making the car more useable. I had a back to back passenger ride yesterday in a 991.1 3RS and a 991.2 GT3,
The RS wasn’t basically to noisy in the cabin and you could hold a conversation.
The GT3 was VERY loud and a bit of a booming noise also in the cabin and I’m sure there isn’t a square millimetre of sound proofing in the car and mine won’t be a daily drive now.
The suspension to me seemed more compliant than the 3RS and it was driven faster and was more stable in corners than the other car
Seats were folding (3RS) and fixed and I’ve changed my spec from folding to fixed just before lock-down

That sounds like a perfect package to me. And I will definitively use my GT3 as a daily driverThe suspension to me seemed more compliant than the 3RS and it was driven faster and was more stable in corners than the other car

Such great news! It won't have orchestrated crackles and bangs just pure flat six scream! Love it,love it! Plus it also means we won't have to go and buy some aftermarket exhaust to release those decibels. Total joy from me! Good move on the fixed buckets, they are so comfortable for hours and offer so much support plus you sit lower in the car. To all of those who are fortunate enough to actually being able to buy one of the most sought after cars of any available marque. Plus if we are to believe the motoring press that it is without question the best sports car that can currently be purchased are we all agreed that we truly are very lucky people. I for one wake in the middle of the night thinking about the blessed thing; I even wander downstairs and get on the configurator such is my enthusiasm. I do not want to wish my life away though September the 8th when it lands is anxiously awaited.

Put car in sport + and on the down shifts it blip's the throttle- -(so that's me in Sport + all the time), it really is a fantastic car not to mention the acceleration, foot down all hell brakes loose.

Tony, was it a manual or PDK version you had a spin in and if PDK could you detect any differences to the RS in this respect.Did the driver comment on the manual vs PDK on the new GT3 as my lockdown is fast approaching and i need to finalise what gearbox i choose. Many thanks in advance...Conclusion

GT3 seemed more acomplished and I could be wrong but the box on the RS seemed worn against the GT but I guess it has been thrashed about all it's life and the GT is new of course. all comments IMO.
I've had three different instructors at the PEC in the last year....I've asked all of them about PDK/Manual and they all say PDK generically although the last one I asked about GT3 and he thought I was mad thinking about getting a manual. But they're all answering it with the idea of wanting the best set up for track use I think.
Comparison with the RS is interesting!
I'm surprised there haven't been more comparison reviews vs both 991.1 cars and the R.

I've specced manual but keeping coming back to PDK. I drive my daughter to school about 20 miles each way in the GTS and pretty much leave it in auto on the way there (traffic and A road). On the way back, it's in manual mode and I take a different route and generally travel much quicker! The speed of the GTS kinda makes me glad I've got both hands on the wheel, and it's so easy to drive, with no effort at all. I would love to do the same journey in the GT3 on dry days! Seems a waste, but I want to enjoy the GT3 all the time, not just on the odd high day.

Your thoughts on whether to go manual or PDK on the new GT3 are echoing mine exactly.! However the answer kindly given by Tony to my question above has resulted in me finally jumping off the high fence and landing firmly with both feet on the PDK side.I fully realise i might regret this difficult decision but deep down i had already decided due to the brilliance of the PDK on my new GTS. Now i just have to climb up another equally tall fence with Racing yellow on one hard side and a nice soft safe landing on the other Guards, White and GT silver side.Unfortunately as one gets older a nice safe soft landing appears more and more appealing....
