I agree with you in that you don't absolutely need a camera to reverse a GT3..A reverse gear takes care of that..! However if you look at it as a very cheap one off insurance policy to protect the backend of a very valuable high end sportscar with very poor rear visibility its worth it imo..The main benefit is to pick up invisible in the rear view mirrors obstacles such as posts or parking bollards for example..
It has no negatives and is discretely hidden from view and weighs as much as a packet of crisps..People think nothing of paying £1600 for a front lift to raise the front end a measly 30mm to protect a cheap consumable such as the front plastic lip but baulk at paying £464 for a camera which potentially can save thousands in rear damage...No brainer imho
Each to their own but imo a rear camera is unecessary and as said before if you can't drive backwards at 1 mph without crashing what chance have you going forwards....It has no negatives and is discretely hidden from view and weighs as much as a packet of crisps..People think nothing of paying £1600 for a front lift to raise the front end a measly 30mm to protect a cheap consumable such as the front plastic lip but baulk at paying £464 for a camera which potentially can save thousands in rear damage...No brainer imho

The other aspect to this is in some ways a rear camera can make you more likely to damage the as you rely too much on technology and not enough on your reversing skills. The sat nav v proper map argument!
Regarding the front lift this is a necessity to prevent expensive damage and to protect residuals especially at a 'bargain' £1600 compared to c £2500 on the first gen GT3. The front lip may take the initial scrapes but far more serious often unseen damage to the front structure is likely on a non lift car.

As my post clearly states you don't need a camera for reversing however even the world's best reverser can't see an invisible narrow 2' high post in pitch dark and its only £464 on a £130000 car ffs...I consider myself probably one of the best reversers on Pistonheads as i regularly have to reverse a 17' long pickup truck with a 14' cattle trailer 100m or so when i meet an idiot english city dwelling stuck up tourist who can't reverse a standard family saloon 5m when i meet them on narrow country roads..The other aspect to this is in some ways a rear camera can make you more likely to damage the as you rely too much on technology and not enough on your reversing skills. I would spec both front lift and rear camera on mine because one £1600 option potentially protects the front and one £464 option potentially protects the rear..In terms of protecting residuals if you were to take yours back to the dealer with the rear highly expensive splitter with a big dent in it after you failed to spot the 12'' stone sticking out of the ground i'm sure you'll finally see sense..;)

Despite your passive aggressive questioning, I will respond. My question was very simple. Do you really need a camera to park a small sports car?
Do you really think the 991 GT3 is a 'small' sports car?I asked a reasonable question - how much rear visibility do you think there is?

Don't want to over spec my car so what do 'soon to be owners' think about 12-o'clock red marking on s/wheel, Carbon interiour, Harness for passenger side?
Have others only mentioned their main options?
Personally I like the carbon interior and 12 o'clock marker is perhaps dependent on what interior you go for and whether it's availble in othercolours etc. But yet I'd be going for it if I can. As for the harness if you go for the CS pack I think you tick that box....and like a lot of people do ask the OPC to leave both harnesses in their boxes. Have others only mentioned their main options?

Imv you can look as the 12-o clock marker as either an unnecessary distraction or a useful guide...either way its not important.Carbon interior absolutely a tick for me as it lifts the ambience of the cabin an ties in nicely with the carbon buckets, also very good value imv at about £500.If you choose clubsport which is a highly unusual generous gesture from Porsche it seems mean not spend £2-300 on a passenger harness.Have others only mentioned their main options?
To change the subject does anyone on here have owned both a GT4 and 991R so i can get an insight on the manual gearboxes as after my 3hr drive in my GT4 this evening i still marvel at the gearchange..,it changes gear as fast as my hand can move and i'm wondering how the GT3.2 manual compares..

Couldn't agree more Taffy, quite why you wouldn't spec a rear camera to make reversing easier is beyond me....I didn't realise we were entering a reversing blind contest.....Besides, a La Ferrari has front and rear parking sensors, and a rear camera as standard, I didn't notice a big rolling of the eyes by the owners of those cars....I would spec both front lift and rear camera on mine because one £1600 option potentially protects the front and one £464 option potentially protects the rear..In terms of protecting residuals if you were to take yours back to the dealer with the rear highly expensive splitter with a big dent in it after you failed to spot the 12'' stone sticking out of the ground i'm sure you'll finally see sense..;)
Same goes for the front lift; my garage, local petrol station, channel tunnel, awkward speed bumps, all have needed the lift function. Its not a question of replacing the front splitter and brake ducts if I didn't have it, I'd probably end up making a mess of the front bumper...I'd rather tick the box for chassis lift please...
