Oh, no problem, I can now bore everyone stless with “spec stress” . I can do this in multiple phases : all delicately different on the face of it but underneath they are in fact , identical :

Phase 1. Pre lockdown : is it this or that , shall I add this , take off that. What do you all think about XYZ - the list is endless & will stretch out until lockdown - colour changes galore I imagine.

Phase 2. The Post lockdown phase : the panic sets in - I’ll need constant re assurance - it will be draining for you all.

Phase 3 - the trickiest phase of the lot : Post lockdown spec error remorse - an ugly and dark phase - I don’t want to pre emp this phase by describing the depths of despair and self doubt and loathing that this phase delivers.

Phase 4 Delivery - anything can happen in this phase - it’s high risk stuff at this stage .

So, um, yeah - lots to come - not really cut out for this type of thing - should be better at it really as I’ve had a lot of practice - you see the self doubt is already starting ...........

Phase 4 - there is of course the stress you might receive a car with a different spec to the one you ordered. This did happen once I heard of, car arrived with no options at all just a basic car in the chosen colour.

Did you have to chop in the stickered salmon?

I think it was the black gt4 currently for sale on the locator. Arrived with nothing and has since had cruise fitted. Scottish chap, nice guy, met him at the RS day in March.

Edited to say that has just been sold!

Very pleased to hear your news having been amused and anxious in equal measure as to how the soap opera would turn out.

If you spec is locked the following may be too late but I have GTSM with standard “free” wheels. Parked next to a GR car with platinum the difference is pretty marginal and certainly not worth £700. But if more shiny is your wheel of choice then standard will do it. On a matter of detail, proper drivers scoff at the black door handles on my car but their wives all think it shows I have good taste. laugh

Have now hit 1800 and ready to let it off the leash albeit the handbook says the actual figure is 1865.

Oulton RS day is 9th March. Will be there but not sure what in.

GT silver is the best Porsche colour of all time IMO. It was initially my first choice for my GT3 but as i already had a GT silver 991.2 GTS i fancied a change..When i told my sales guy i was getting GTS he mentioned at the time it seemed it was going to be too popular as at least two of their allocations were going for it.
As it turned out all the 2017 GT3s were different colours with RY accounting for three of the seven cars..How ironic is it that i switched from GTS to RY on my GT3 as i thought it would be less common..

Generally though I think RY is much less common than GT silver.

Have you collected it yet?

Hope it goes well and look forward to seeing the result. If its not too late, I would probably pass on the glass treatment as in low angle sun it looks smeary to me.

Quick question - can we talk wheels : are yours expensive or cheap silver - any thoughts on the difference - haven't seen either in the flesh - I’ve gone basic as I’m told they are brighter ?
Mine are satin aluminium (£716) same as what was on the 991R. Quite hard to photograph and describe but if you can imagine the shine took off the standard silver finish and then the colour toned down (a bit whiter) then thats basically what they are. Look fantastic when washed and dried but they are a b i t c h to keep clean - and I don't think PCCB's would even be enough to keep them clean as mine just seem to pick up, and show, all the s h i t from the road. A little bit of dust on them and it shows too. I think if you are anal about keeping your car clean and not using it much then yes go for them, but if you intend to use your car a lot then the standard finish (shiny) is more forgiving. Matt / satin finishes are high maintenance. I would spec them again though because on a black car they look the dogs b o ll o x (IMO)

Bugger, if I'm going for the 'R vibe' I should probably have Satin Aluminum?

Well I may as well jump on the band wagon. I have to lock my spec down early next week. Would appreciate your thoughts on the following spec for my Touring. My dilemma is keen for PCCB's but then the yellow callipers are not going to compliment the red stitching I am after and I think plain black interior looks bland. I am also unsure on satin platinum wheels or satin black to go with agate grey. Would appreciate any feedback... :-)

Are you serious?

You are keen on PCCB's, which are great, but may not get them because they don't match the colour of the stitching?

Thanks for your kind words - yep soap opera indeed - Hollywood keep calling for the rights to the movie - coming to a cinema near you soon - I'm played by Brad Pitt, which is handy as we look just like each other.

Re wheels - thanks this is what I thought - already having spec remorse - Have gone through the whole gambit today :

From GTSM to White back to GTSM - thoughts of a touring spec , followed by no deffo go with the wing but maybe with black wheels and carbon mirror caps . Back to white , back to GTSM: I can only prey for a quick lockdown to save me from myself getmecoat

Re Oulton - looks like a few on here are going - I may try and pop down (when I say pop down - its a good 2.5 hours from me) smile

Good advice re maintenance - I plan to use mine as my DD so I think the standard are worth sticking with -Could anyone else with a GTSM car with standard alloys please post a piccy - cheers smile

More importantly where are we with your 911R side decals ??

Sorry to be a pain - but do you have any other images of you car that isn't in direct sunlight as that image is a bit washed out - I know this sounds very ungrateful and I'm embarreded to ask, but I'd like to see the door handles as well as the wheels in normal light - especially the handles, as I hear they may turn me into a creature of desire with the ladies - my wife says I need all the help I can get smile

Just to let you know I had PCCB's on my 991.1 GT3 with red stitch inside - looked absolutely fine - you don't link the two together what so ever smile
