Talking of Orangeyness...I have a confession to make.
I have an allocation for a car which I have made the rather controversial decision to order in Lava Orange....I know a lot of people don't like it but I saw a Lava GT3 at my OPC when we picked my wife's Boxster up at the end of last year and I thought it looked fantastic. I wouldn't have gone for it unless I'd seen one to be honest...I've seen the comments about Salmon Pink etc...it's a colour that doesn't work well on a lot of cars but it was the 991.1 RS launch colour and I think like Racing Yellow or Miami Blue look much better on a GT car than anything else in the range it's offered on.
I've ticked a lot of boxes and it's going to be an expensive car but the way I look at it is this might be my first and last chance to order a GT car to my spec. I hope not but you never know.
I've gone for
Lava Orange
Manual (obviously!)
CS
Black Wheels
PCCB's
LWB's
Lift
Yellow Stitching
Black LED's
And quite a few other boxes....
My car's not due to leave the factory until early April so sounds like it'll be one of the last cars anyone on here is getting. OPC's been a pleasure to deal with, none of the games (there's no trade in) that some others went though to get an allocation. Invited me to put a deposit down after the car was launched with an indication that I would hopefully get a 2018 car and they came through
I seriously considered Lava Orange as well as it will be ultra rare on the GT3 and is a fantastic colour on the RS.I have an allocation for a car which I have made the rather controversial decision to order in Lava Orange....I know a lot of people don't like it but I saw a Lava GT3 at my OPC when we picked my wife's Boxster up at the end of last year and I thought it looked fantastic. Can I ask why you went for Yellow stitching when you can get Orange stitching as this is what I was going to go for? I also looked at ordering orange seat belts (via CXX) or getting a set made aftermarket.

PEC Day - I have got my PEC day tomorrow in the GT3. I have done the PEC days before, but has anyone else done it ina GT3 and do you have any tips for getting the most out of the GT3 session (2.5 hours)? Any advice would be appreciated.
I've done it several times as well and in a variety of GT type cars.I would have to say the most impressive of all for me was the 991RS especially around the newer track with the tight hairpin, it's agility and handling on a tight track genuinely impressed me, but this was my first drive with RWS which your new GT3 will also have of course.
If you've done PEC days before personally I would skip the ice hill and kick plate and just concentrate on the new track for about half the time, then split the rest of the time between the original track and the low friction areas.
Enjoy it whatever way you go, and I guess you'll be reporting back ??

Coincidence - I'm at the PEC in the morning tomorrow using up my long overdue GTS Cabriolet day. I did the GT3 PEC day just before Christmas in the Crayon manual. Bomb crater in and out as fast as possible as many times as you can is my recommendation - none of this f***ing around on the kick-plate. Plus learning where on the track the turbo cars have the edge and where you can claw it back. Why not see whether this supposed manual "launch control" is a thing? Prizes for hitting speeds over 90mph at any point. Do say hello tomorrow if you can as from your posts I think we're both GTS then GT3 punters. I'm the very tall one. Oh, and ask to skip the briefing. I'm aiming to be first out on the track in the cabriolet with the roof down!2010spy said:
Thanks! That sounds like a plan. I will report back. I’m going to ask if we can do some road stuff as well.
I haven’t booked mine yet - is there a choice of what you do or do you justvagree it on the day? I would probably like more track time, less road and “obstacles”.How does it work and how long do you get?
Thanks

I really liked the yellow stitching that was available on the GT4, the Lava stitching doesn’t give the same contrast. Also the Head of Sales at the OPC made a great suggestion of buying the black Schroth harnesses as they have yellow lettering, they’re going to fit them for me instead of the red ones supplied with the car. Not cheap to buy! I’ve also gone for yellow seat belts....that might be a mistake but that’s something that can be changed if I don’t like them. Oh and I’ve gone for the painted vent surrounds in Lava Orange too. I hope it all works ! Looked good on the configurator at the OPC...

I've done four PEC days this year, two of which i did in 991.1GT3 and 991.2GT3.The kickplate is worth doing in the gen 2 GT3 as it shows how quick it reacts to corrective steering inputs compared to other Porsches.During the gen 2 PEC day i requested a drive on local roads to see how the ride coped with bumps and varying surfaces..It rode surprisingly well and more compliant than my 991.2GTS which i was not expecting.
If this is your first time make sure you take full advantage of the catering as the food is quite exceptional..!
