Anyone getting smoke on cold start? I am getting a lot, and it seems more each time. Car is six months old done 350 miles. I mean a lot of smoke.
Must be all those short trips from cold.Mines on 450 miles at 1 month old sometimes smokes on startup sometimes doesn't. Same as gen 1.

Also interesting that harnesses changed from expected nice chunky red ones to skinny black and yellow without any explanation.
Same as mine thankfully as I didn't fancy red harnesses with the red belts and stitching etc red overload.

6 months old and 350 miles ?? Maybe just use the investment a bit !!
I wish I had time. Work/life balance needs sorting plus huge family commitments - elderly infirm parents on all sides. Certainly not bought as investment. If it was I'd sell it now. Edited by hunter 66 on Sunday 29th April 12:34

Liking the yellow stitching! Painted vent surrounds and the insert in the folding buckets too ?
Hi Cheib, yes that's correct. Although the vents in particular are an expensive option I did think it would set the car off.NBTBRV8 said:
I can see a warranty claim here, the stitching doesn't line up on the leather column cowl between the two pieces
Yes my friend's has arrived and is perfect - so this will need rectification!Taffy66 said:
The carefully worded letters from PORSCHE are just a ploy to pacify owners who experience this peculiar trait..The fact that SW20 had his entire box replaced under warranty speaks volumes IMO , and as a result an admission from Porsche that there is a fault.
As i've stated from the start it only manifests itself in the 3rd/4th plane as this is in perfect alignment with the gear linkage..However as time goes on and more and more people complain Porsche want to avoid a fullblown recall with the resulting bad press it entails..
Its pur nonsense from Porsche that this play is within tolerances and more to do with an engineering flex within the the gearbox itself or more likely a problem with the dynamic gearbox mounts..
Typical response from a huge cooperation...

If it jumps out of gear, its a fault.
If it doesn't jump out of gear, its not a fault.
Gearboxes are made from cast aluminium and machined carbon steel - there can be no flex whatsoever inside.
However, as previously mentioned, tolerance stack up of the components along the main shaft could allow free play, which are then amplified at the gear lever.
As the gearbox selector mechanism is connected to the gear lever via a cable, the engine and gearbox mounts, whether soft or hard, will have no influence on gear lever movement.
So glad I chose PDK...!

I agree as long as it doesn't pop out of gear it won't give grounds for warranty recall..On the other hand its very disappointing for such a hyped high end car to have such a disparity between the haloed manual box.If it jumps out of gear, its a fault.

Browngt3,RSVP911 and Blackmamba's don't suffer from this peculiar trait which must make it especially frustrating for the owners who have new GT3s where the gear lever is visibly moving of its own accord.
I too have no regrets on going PDKs as it really suits the car and brings out the best in the engine without the risk of a money shift..The 5% lower gearing is also welcome..
Back down to my OPC tomorrow to try and do a deal on a new manual T,or if failing that i might buy back my old GT4..

why not try another brand, not sure why you need a T or a GT4 if you have a GT3 ? unless you DO miss the manual. Having had a GT4 I would not ever drive it over my GT3.
I am not sure why a PDK box brings the best from an engine either, I might say that with a Turbo car to keep it on boost. but the manual box brings out the best in most cars imo. in fact it makes the car where the RS is more PDK now days.

Hello
Ive managed to put a few kilometres on the car now both road and track. Although mostly the roads here are pretty uninteresting.
I had the whole car covered in PPF to help with track rash and tourists having no respect and leaning on the car to get a picture taken.
On track, the way the car can carry speed is pretty amazing. Its definitely not the quickest car in a straight line but ties everything together nicely.
My initial thought on the Steel brakes were these are crap, I am warming to them however still think they could be way better. The temperatures here in the UAE are obviously higher than most areas and that will be a factor. I took the car up a well known hill here and the brakes were really struggling on the way back down. The rear can get a bit unstable under very heavy braking i'm putting this down to track and tyre temps and probably my driving style. Will look into fluid at a later date as well once if got the hang of her.
The Dunlops hold up pretty well in the heat, with track temps at around 36 Degrees in the evenings they stand up very well. I generally don't stay out longer than around 10 minutes in a session at that they are hot!. Ive done two trackdays I recon I will get one more out of them. Cars covered just under 4000 Kilometers.
She has used some oil and is going for a oilchange this week, the oil reeks of fuel.
The PDK is way better than I am, I just leave it in auto and let it do its thing while I explore the cars (and my) abilities. A nice chap in another gt3 showed me the way round Yas south circuit the other night, I now know what the cars capable of and will push on a bit more on the next track day.
On the road she's very easy to live with, the exhaust note change just under 4K is getting annoying to me now.
Speed bump wise I only need to use the lift to get over one bump in the car park. We have speed bumps everywhere of varying sizes and generally don't need to use lift at all.
Ive the Buckets and they are uncomfy as a few people have mentioned. With a lid on your necks sticking way forward and the lumber support is naff. Defiantly going to order a set of those autoquest shims to see how that works out. the seats do fit my frame size tho just need to be tilted back a bit and I shall add some lower back support see how that helps out. If that doesnt help I will change them out for Cobra's, motordrives or something I know gives me good support. Ive had back surgery since the car arrived and its doing my head in now. Stretch those legs folks thats the secret.
Shmee mentioned a annoying rattle, I also had a rattle that was driving me insane coming from behind the passenger seat. Turned out to be a 10mm socket had got under the carpet where the crotch strap bolts down and was rolling about.
If I had enough funds to fly the car to europe to enjoy the roads and tracks there I would do it in a heart beat must be a blast!
Enjoy folks and remember the limiter is there to be enjoyed
PS. Boyner, Been a while since the old eastside days I like the gold wheels, Although I do prefer green wheels

T and GT3 compliment each other very well. Both 'manuels' btw.
The T mainly seems to be failed GT3 orders as it's aimed to be a drivers car which is what the GT3 is, so one would never go for the T keys over a GT3 if you owned both.If you said a Macan, Spyder, Turbo S or GTS made a good compliment to a GT3 I would agree, to say a T does seems a bit daft.

Ideal complimentary car would be a Mission E .
Well it can be anything really, RS6 Avant as an example, just not a 911T lol I run a Golf as a daily, it's a great car and does every thing a car needs to do better than most other cars.
If I had the money I would run a Turbo S gen 2 as a daily.
I am looking forward to the 992 GTS, could be the perfect daily and maybe some thing way more hard core In the garage when I make that move.
I am not using the cars I own atm so I need a shake up big time.

You clearly haven't driven a T.
As for the T being bought by mostly failed GT3 order customers
Just because the GT3 is a top drivers car doesn't mean the T isn't.
Many on here including me have a GT4 as well as a GT3 and just because the 3 is more focused that doesn't make the 4 less appealing in it's own niche way.
The T is a very usable 911 (mines got rear seats to add to it's usability) and reminiscent of the 997.1 Carreras imo.
A great overall package.

I use a Skoda VRS as a daily. People think I'm the plod when they come up behind me and slow down
I also have a couple of classics which I think are the perfect compliment but appreciate they won't be to all tastes
