Interesting item in Junes Car magazine article comparing the 1.2 GT3 with an AMG GT R:

"Or if you fancy something a little lower-key than the GT3, look out for the X90 Touring Pack version. Only available in manual transmission form, it trades in the flash wingwork and the racy interior for the more subtle aero kit of the discontinued 911 R and a period leather-with-corduroy trim."

Anybody seen this?
Corduroy?! Sounds interesting...

So who would spec a Touring pack then?

Touring GT3, yep, it has the green light unfortunately. If you want a touring then buy a 911S. The GT3 brand / name will be becoming diluted and less desirable. A GT3, should just be a GT3..

Maybe it won't carry the GT3 badge.

Think there must be a delay, my build slot was put back 2 month's weeping
Interesting, what was your original date? Any reason or speculation given? Also, I guess you haven't locked your spec yet, but if so was there anything wierd or wonderful to create a delay?

Cheers.
Original date July new one Sept, no reason for the delay

73 RS was available as a Touring so I imagine that's where it came from....not from BMW calling their estate cars Touring!

Yes and the T in 911T stood for Touring. It was the base model at the time. The new model will be harking back to days past which I think is great and as you said, you could have a Touring version of the 73 RS so why not a GT3. I don't see an issue with a wingless gt3 engined 911 with a more road spec, leather interior etc. Change is good. I'll be ordering one if its an option in time for me in October.

I think I'm too excited about getting a GT car for the first time to do anything other than have a full on GT3...though if it is the leather and houndstooth interior a la 911 R it would be very tempting.

Same for me, I want the full GT3 with wings, spoilers and the full car experience shouting loud "GT3" biggrin

The original RS was never called 'Touring'

There were three variants:
- the RSH (the 'Homologation' models)
- the RS (the M471 'Sport' - which some people call 'lightweights')
- the RSL (the M472 'Lux' - which some people call 'tourings')

And, of course, the M491 RSRs.

I think it's great that they're making this an option. A 911S now comes with icky turbos, so that doesn't really satisfy.

RS in the past didn't have shouty wings and deleted rear seats. No reason why today's GT3 shouldn't be available in that configuration.

Although I'd probably debadge to make it still more a sleeper.

Morning All ,
Speccing my GT3 and looking for a spot of help from all you knowledgable guys .
What do you actually get for the Extended interior door package panel in Alcantara / leather ?
One more , can you spec the 12 O'clock marking in any clr or is it just Red ? The Porsche brochures show a car with a White marking but can not see how to spec .
Thanks .

Can't help on the doors.

The 12 O'clock marker is expected to be available in other colours but not yet....it's fairly normal for more options to become available during the life of the car. Things like yellow deviated stitching may be available later in production too. There are other Porsche Exclusive options available that are not on the configurator....extra interior leather/alcantara etc but they can be seriously expensive.

Yes Cheib has it right there. You can do literally anything to your car via the exclusive avenue but you will pay for it rather handsomely.

With regards to the additional alcantara for I think 300 odd quid you don't get a lot. Its just a couple of bits of trim that I think will otherwise be in plastic that will be alcantara or leather covered. Its as you open the door on the front part of the door card that usually sits / butts up the end of the dash board hence you can only see it when the door is open. I don't think its very often options to be honest. I think the description is slightly misleading as it mentions something about leather on the door top trim panel that comes with the additional leather option anyway but what they mean I think is where, if you imagine the tweeters are on a BMW or old school manual mirror adjustments would be - this is now leather covered. There may be a small piece of leather in addition somewhere but its not much. You don't get an awful lot for 300 quid from Porsche.

Porsche says this:
'Black smooth-finish leather: upper section of front door trim panels, door mirror panels and door end trims.Black Alcantara®: lower section of front door trim panels'

Isn't that the truth!

My OPC sales contact had a customer who got properly stuck into the "Exclusive" options for his Turbo S......Alcantara steering wheel with contrast stitching ? £3500! The total price of the car was eye watering.
