Your point about the massive volume of 991 cars vs the previous generations is one I am completely in agreement with...there are an awful lot of these cars around so we are in uncharted territory. With regards to the older cars I am sure you're right that the 996 GT3 (whether .1 or .2 which is in itself a debate!) offers a comparable driving experience clearly the market for them is quite limited because of what they sell for.. I personally don't like the aesthetics of the 996 especially the interior which I think is the worst interior of any generation of 911 (apologies to anyone who owns a 996) and judging from mates that own 993's I think they're getting to an age when big bills are going to become relatively regular. And people like the fact the newer cars are not as hardcore and can be used as a daily etc etc so I think a large amount of the price difference is justified.
A T will depreciate for sure, but I can't see how it'll be any different to any other "normal" 911.
If nothing else, it allows speccing a regular car with a manual without it being detrimental for the residual.
Car drivers or enthusiasts especially aren't gonna avoid depreciation forever!
Granted there's a point the cost outways the enjoyment.
Driving a new Porsche is a decent privilege, as said in the last post, drive and enjoy!!

lol that's no good thing, the last T was a bit of a stter truth be told, no one wanted it, Porsche knocked out a cheap car to sell some stock. This one is the same, T is prob the worse badge to have on a Porsche if that matters !!! The S is a much better car.
It's a base 911 at the end of the day, other specials like the R and 997 GTS were the best most expensive cars in the range so a T is nothing like the cars you listed. It was the lowest model back in the 60's and it's the lowest model now. The difference this time round is it's not cheap !

Nobody is buying mine for £160k but it was £139k and a bit....things like deviated stitching, painted vents etc can do that to the price on top of all the normal big ticket options.
Definitely not a flippers spec.....although I took Mrs Cheib out in it for the first time last night and I think she’d like me to! It’s too loud, seats are too upright (clearly disciple of the 911R school of thought on the 918 buckets) and it’s just “not very comfortable”. Oh and she thought I was being childish when revving the engine out to 7k rpm!
I feel your pain Cheib... My wife isn't at all into her cars but luckily my girlfriend loves them, even the 918's.Definitely not a flippers spec.....although I took Mrs Cheib out in it for the first time last night and I think she’d like me to! Was your main criteria for the girlfriend the fact she liked your cars ?!?!

Well someone is obviously laundering their money through Solihull OPC as they have just sold the miami blue one which was ‘price on application’ so it must have been a 10 mile £190k car given theres a 50 mile one in the network More money than sense or they know something we dont

The Solihull car sold for £175k... It was on SOR, and the seller wanted rid fast in the end... I know because I got a call offering it me at that price by my sales chap, and I was busy working through the finances myself: I got a text an hour later to say it had sold....!! There had apparently been ZERO interest at the £190k he had originally held out for... So prices are definitely dropping right now: ALL Solihull’s Gen2 GT3s have been reduced significantly within the last month....More money than sense or they know something we dont

But not significantly enough for me to part with my cash for one On the point of nutty overs: how much over list price do folk think would be a “good deal” on a Gen2 GT3 atm.....??? Looking at Gen1s, they still “appear” to be selling at around £10k overs— that’s on a now 4 year old car..... So where would peeps rate a “good deal” on a Gen2 in terms of overs for a well specced clubby GT3....??

Same here....!! It’s crazy times when you can walk into a Lambo dealership and order a new Performante “off the shelf”, whilst us Porsche-Devotees have to sit and wait for the nutty overs to fall to an “acceptable” level....!!

I think £30 k over list would be a good deal. If that Solihull car sold for £175k I am guessing it was probably a £130 to £135k car so at least £40k over list. No idea what an OPC charges for SoR but I would guess £10k to £15k. On the point of nutty overs: how much over list price do folk think would be a “good deal” on a Gen2 GT3 atm.....??? In terms of the margins that Top 555, Romans etc work on don’t know if it can be applied to a GT3 but a mate of mine tried selling a Bentley Conti to them about six months ago...both were pretty open that 20% was their margin for buying the car. That was a £130k car. I believe SOR at the Porsche specialists is a lot more competitive than that.

That’s purely down to supply and demand. Many people will see a Porsche GT3 as a more usable proposition and a better place to put their money. The limited supply and ‘overs’ simply enhances the exclusivity and desirability- look at other luxury items such as art and watches.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
