There was a Lava Orange GT3RS at a show I was at last weekend in Cumbria and it looks so flat in certain lights.

Not the best picture as it was taken from Facebook

Car is owned by Ian Parker (The DP at Porsche Kendal)

Thanks for posing the pic Martin, yes that pic is exactly what i am on about. Lots of people love it.
People have also said that GR is flat and it can be but not half as washed out as as Lava on a sunny day. Its a shame as an Orange GT3 would be superb. Not many about!

I'd say these pics are a decent representation of how it looks in the metal

All taken from Autogespot as you can see...pretty good website if you want to look for pics of a car in a certain colour. I'd say the two extremes are the middle picture which is on a cloudy day and the last one which appears to be in war evening sun.

These are all great photos of Lava and would have been one of my top choices based on the 991 GT3 RS i saw in my OPC last year. However when we paid a more recent visit last winter on a typical dull day we spotted a Lava orange Porsche parked outside and we were both shocked and disappointed at how flat and washed out it appeared away from the showroom lights.I personally prefer loud strong colours on a GT3 however Lava is now out and am still smitten with Racing yellow in the full knowledge it is one of the bravest choices..!
Another favourite colour for me on the new GT3 is Sapphire blue which again won't be over popular yet still suits the car imo.

I've seen it referred to as Salmon Pink which isn't far from the truth

I agree....a GT3 can take bold colours in a way that non GT cars just can't!

Yellow is a strong contender for me though I'd really need to see one in the metal....I had a good look at the Yellow GT4 they had at the PEC last week and not sure I have the bottle for it! I agree on Sapphire Blue I really like it as a colour....but then I would as I had an Estoril Blue M3 years ago and an electric blue S3 after that.....and we've got a Moonlight Blue Cayenne and I've owned two Carbon Black cars which also have a blue tint!

I've got a 991.2GTS PDK coupe to pick up at my OPC in GT silver which might still sway me on the GT3 colour choice.Whether or not i'm still stuck with yellow when i finalise my spec remains to be seen.! The safest yet suitable GT3 colour will be white but i also have a white Panny hybrid arriving next week which depending on my pov on whether or not i want matching colour Porsches in my garage or not...
As i pointed out before i used to be indecisive but now i'm not so sure..laugh

Don't think these are representative - pics before are better smile

They're pretty accurate to the Lava cars I've seen in the flesh IMHO.

Apologies, if this has already been covered, but is there any truth to this touring pack rumour for the 991.2 GT3 manual?

eek Blimey, the lengths you have to go to to get information out of an OPC these days!

This has been confirmed for ages guys.

Dealers have the specific option code for the GT3 for the "de-winged" or so-called Touring version for several weeks. I assume they will be able to spec it at some point, this and the details of the option are missing info.

The way Porsche drip feed the specification of their cars/production is quite bizarre...it comes across like organised chaos but I am sure it's quite deliberate! It will be interesting to see what else gets released over time....I am assuming the 12 O'clock marker will be available in other colours as well as possibly other colours of stitching...yellow was an option on GT4 wasn't it?

Cheib things like different colour marker are something you just talk to Porsche Exclusive about. Dealer should be able to do that.

They know exactly what they are doing. Sheer marketing genius if you ask me. Hence Porsche is so successful, other manufacturers must look on in awe! Not of course that I am biased in any way. wink

Is that solid or metallic. Looks like the Huracan metallic yellow from that pic

Seems that way...on Rennlist I saw one bloke claimed it was "definitely being released tomorrow" and that was about three weeks ago!

There seems to have been a lot of internet speculation and guesswork, sometimes dressed up as fact, which will have raised hopes.

May happen, but no clear evidence that I'm aware of.
