It's not trolling you, it's just I and many others are weary of your egocentric bias.
I know David can be opinionated, but he's never insulting towards people on a personal level. I do wonder sometimes if people who throw personal insults around on here would be quite so rude were they to bump into people in real life at a meet or trackday.Budflicker said:

I'm the opposite as those that know me will attest to:-)
I may of course be wrong, and would be more than pleased to pop along to a meet or trackday to find out. So come on David, what do you say?

I’m sure the two the big ‘beasts’ on here are both knowledgeable people: interesting individuals, with whom one would, happily, share a pint or two!
Unfortunately, the medium we use to communicate in is a two dimensional entity (prose & print), which does not serve us well. On line, there are no non-verbal human signals* to give basic communicative intentions/emphasis (*witness the use of emojis to deflect unintended slights & misunderstanding; as replacements for body language: facial cues:, voice intonation: pauses, etc.
I well remember a contributing member of PistonHeads/Rennlist, circa 2013/14 991.1 GT3 Forums, who had a somewhat acerbic on line presence - enough to have one American critic to advise “psychiatric counselling” for his aggressive manner. He still contributes on here, with a very welcome non-aggressive persona now: his true manner now shines through, seems a great guy, something that was there detectable before, but which was drowned out by the ‘noise’ his online self created, at the time!
(Apologies for using the anonymous YOU as an example, but you are a really good example of how aggression can be removed, whilst still getting one’s opinion across).
As before, the view is solely my own; other opinions are equally valid: after all, it’s all individual opinion.

He implied I had called him 'an extremely unpleasant and repulsive person' however what I actually said was 'you really are an odious individual', hardly the same...

Well seeing as you seem so pedantic I will indulge you.The definition is 'Extremely unpleasant; repulsive'
A synonym of odious could be 'objectionable'
Objectionable is however by it's definition a milder slight.
'Arousing distaste or opposition; unpleasant or offensive'
Therefore had you actually said that you found David objectionable, I don't belive many would argue the view. However to call him odious was a personal insult in my humble opinion, though of course you may well find me to be objectionable as well.

Somewhat ascerbic ?....our very own Arthur Shelby ? ...never. Sadly, that persona still festers there...bubbling through ever too frequently to annihilate every Mac owner on the planet. He's an anathema, extremely knowledgeable but ginger and short...may I propose an instant ban on the last two counts alone ?.
Now, now, let’s not introduce heightism to the hallowed pages of PistonHeads. There’re quite enough -isms flying around already, thank you !
Besides, I might just resemble the remark “ginger & short”; I’m also of a sensitive nature - well, according to my very expensive therapist, I am .

Recent 2k mile run in trip from Poole to Monte Carlo and back via the Route Napoleon! Took it easy on the way down as the car had only covered 250 miles since picking it up new, so nicely run in by the time I hit Monte. Came back via the Route Napoleon - awesome roads and great to finally open the car up - what an engine - epic!! I'm blown away by how good the car is, just an awesome awesome special piece of kit...
I took mine to the South Coast to go kitesurfing a couple of weeks ago. London to Camber Sands avoiding motorways is a surprisingly good drive. I arrived at the beach totally buzzing and couldn’t get a kite in the air quick enough to get another hit of adrenalin.
I could have taken my Golf R estate instead but why would I?

Seems a lot of PCCB converts :-)
pad longevity is not quite true as it's recommended to replace pads 1/2 worn, again a heat issue to save the disks !! and the PADS cost more !
after market kit on a new GT3, no one is going to do that, it's classed as a track car and now has a race engine, I am torn on PCCB as I do like the looks and less dust, but the bloody cost and looking after is not nice and the track use still seems iffy, try selling a GT3 with after market disks in 12 months !
People say race car for the road but no Porsche race car I know runs CCB, and higher up the scale race cars use full Carbon disks not this mix of material which they do to try and get bite at lower heat.
One might even say does the CCB have a place on a GT3 ?, because one might say if you are not doing track days a GTS is the better car.
even the RSR does not use CCB, is it the vein choice :-) because owning a GT3 and tracking, CCB seems very much the wrong choice !
the PEC boys will talk you into unsprung weight, but if that were the case all race cars would use them ! the RSR have taken great steps forward, they put the engine in the right place (like a GT4), stripped out all the weight, but..... they still run steels ;-)
Is the Public being conned with this £6.5k option ! the GT4 did not need it, but many people option it and back up the option with so called unsprung weight advantage !
carbon ceramic discs are little more than a tidy earner for the car manufacturers it seems atm, not race proven and once worn £20k for a set of disks !
Not many people would spec PCCB for personal use if the car did not fetch overs !
will I spec them, well yes !!, as the car will fetch overs and rich people want PCCB on their cars for looks, so one has to spec with resale in mind at this market ! and in the mean time, I'll enjoy easier wheel cleaning and pose factor !! because that's all you are buying !
I wonder what happened to Mr D to convert him to PCCBs.?pad longevity is not quite true as it's recommended to replace pads 1/2 worn, again a heat issue to save the disks !! and the PADS cost more !

Fair play… people have a right to change their mind… and he already has Gen1 PCCB on his keeper 987 Spyder. Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
