I guess these 991.1 GT3s for sale were specced up by flippers in safe colours, predictable safe options.

Having gone through the configurator it's clear how difficult it must be to buy a real eye-catching example with great options worthy of the GT3 on the back. PCCB for example missing on most and red/white being the only non-silver colours.

What a shame.

Good spec cars do come up but sell very quickly. JZM sold a PTS clubsport car in a couple of days very recently (although it seemed cheap) . If anything contrary to what people expected 991.1's are selling quicker than they were before the 991.2 was announced....seems like the new car being more expensive is attracting buyers to the 991.1...and maybe speculation about what it will cost to get your hands on a 991.2 if you can't get an allocation. RS's seem to be selling too.

I am sure there will be some decent cars up for sale later in the year when the 991.2's start getting delivered. There have been a couple of very nice spec 991.1 GTS's come up for sale now the 991.2's are coming through.

I wouldnt worry much about the PCCB option. A decent set of after market steel rotors will be a better all round option if you intend to track the car. The new PCCB technology is improving but ultimately the limiting factor with braking is still tyre grip. I cant tell the difference with unsprung weight and prefer the fact that steel holds heat for longer anyway.

Cant agree on the PCCB (something I wouldn't spec and would actively avoid on a S/H GT3), but do agree on the poorly specced cars.

It frustrating to see some poor choice of colour/options in the 991.2 gt3 thread, especially knowing I cant get one new and will be forced to sift through the same cars when they are sold after just a few months ownership.

I'm assuming there'll be quite a few coming to market in the near future as .2 Allocations get confirmed.

Personally, I would want the pccbs, especially for road use. If I was buying a car where every aspect was tuned and developed for the ultimate objective, then I'd want the best brakes.

So refreshing to read modest posts on PH! And from someone rather more talented behind the wheel that 99% of the inhabitants of PH.

I posted on this thread yesterday about PCCB's

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

All that said I'd still probably spec PCCB's if I got the chance. Although £6k is a lot of money for a yellow paint job....

Let's hope that plenty of people who are allocated a .2 GT3 (and I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for one) go with the less obvious colours like Crayon, Miami Blue, Sapphire Blue, Carmine Red and hopefully Porsche let a good few of them choose PTS

My choices are currently Yellow, Miami Blue or PTS (Riviera Blue or Mexico Blue). I don't think I am brave enough to go for Birch Green or one of the other bright Greens.

I will have Bucket seats, PCCB and Clubsport option definitely and my option list will be closer to £20k + paint

The extra weight of the options is not of the slightest concern to me biggrin

Top 555 have just tweeted they've taken a 991.1 GT3 into stock....

https://twitter.com/TOP555Cars/status/852157975976...

Sounds daft but good cars sell on the back of Twitter in these crazy times and never make websites.

Indeed thanks Steve for the PCCB bit. It must have been psychological when I put them back on my GT2 it just felt more responsive somehow. I'd definitely have them on any GT3 mainly because they're space age innit. wink

I was talking with my dealer today, he recons that 70% will be Crayon! Can't see it being that many myself but I'm sure it will be a popular colour.

My voodoo blue GT3 sold in less than 12hrs. It didn't have pccb but was CS and had all the other useful goodies.

Steel brakes worked fantastically well and I never missed the PCCB actually I was less concerned by wear and tear consequences so could push harder without worries.

Would I get them on the next one ? Possibly as they make a better ride and reduce unsprung weight. Will I really notice the difference ? I doubt it..

Ah yes, that often used quote, 'Please consider the second owner when speccing your car......' wink

I'll spec my car for me, but on a GT3 I can't understand putting comfort seats instead of buckets?

If you want comfort by a GTS or Turbo S, the GT3 is a hardcore racer

Definitely NOT psychological. Noticeable on track ? Probably/possibly not, most are smooth enough for the suspension to be able to cope with ease, added to which any mid corner bumps on a race track probably wouldn't be noticeable under heavy trail braking. But try the same on the road and find a high speed corner with mid corner bumps and/or undulations and try driving a PCCB equipped 996 GT2 around it, then do the same with a car utilising the the OE one piece 350mm steel discs (not the lighTER 2 piece floating Alcons/Brembos or PFC's) and tell me what you felt was "psychological". Rest assured the steering will be lighter, more feelsome, the turn in sharper, and the suspension's ability to deal with mid corner bumps/undulation markedly better.

Would PCCB's be a deal breaker for me ? Nope, but they are a nice trinket to have (especially if someone else has paid for them) smile

I'm amazed at the amount of R's that have comfort seats...one was for sale in the UK recently so equipped and I have seen pictures of a few on forums etc.

Agree with you....I don't see that happening at all...I think White and GT Silver will be the most popular colours.

Thankfully, iirc, not a single PHer has suggested a build with comfort seats.

That has got to be Mr JWW's car I reckon as he's recently mentioned it's going. Will probably have good mileage as he said he's covered 20K in the past year in it. clap

Regarding speccing for the second owner I think that's my point -- it seems people are doing just that by playing safe. If I had the good fortune to order a new GT3 I'd be speccing it for me and that'd show in an "unsafe" colour particularly.

Oh sure it'd be the finest one out there too wink

My fantasy GT3 game has allowed me to create what's totally perfect for me without any regard to price at all and still come in comfortably under 140k. Surely this has to be the performance car bargain of the century???

How much more to RS models come in on the pricelist normally?
