what is an 'early' 3.4 996?

lovely one here for sale, not often do they appear at an official Porsche Centre.

The 996 has officially adopted the Porsche Classic status. And with the 25 year anniversary of the 996 (see PH main page), expect to see some more OPC advertising a 996.https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsch...
RE the car: I quite like the idea of a Carrera 4 Tiptronic (with proper winter tyres) as a all year city runaround / daily driver in a congested area.
Interesting recent video about the 996 Tiptronic. Well worth a watch:

I prefer it. It's much more usable for all traffic conditions and 80% of my driving is in London traffic.RE the car: I quite like the idea of a Carrera 4 Tiptronic (with proper winter tyres) as a all year city runaround / daily driver in a congested area.

On the open road, I also don't see the problem with it. Why do you need to get into the right rev range 0.3 seconds more quickly? You're not racing. In fact, on a twisty road, I'm not even thinking about what gear it's in or whether it's at the optimal rev range. I'm enjoying navigating the road.

I have a manual now but did have a Tiptronic before.
For me the feel of "old school" driving in changing the gears goes hand in hand with having what is now being more classed as a classic car than a modern sports car, but I am not going to say don't get a Tiptronic I liked mine & as you say they are very easy to live with.
The one thing I did notice is the MPG, the Tip was far heavier on fuel.

Interesting to note. Do we think Porsche will make a thing out of the 996 hitting 25 years
Probably not the same way they celebrate 60 years of 911 or the like, but if they can sell some PCCM and some 996 at good prices the will certainly take up on the opportunity! BTW: because of the classic status you get a discount on parts from Porsche (after they applied a special classic tax no doubt )

Here's an example of how to maintain your 996.....
https://www.william-francis.com/cars/porsche/911/t...
Full Hartech rebuild plus suspension refresh etc etc.- it supports the theory that you need at least £1k pa for maintenance before you get in to big ticket items like an engine rebuild

Hilarious price - think their website has been hacked. And asking top dollar for a car with non-PSE aftermarket exhausts and wrong (and odd looking) splitter that hasn’t had a Hartech rebuild either. Good luck with that one GT6 Jonsey said:
Indeed..I could be tempted if my budget doesn't burn a whole in my pocket before it goes live...Think the estimate band is poss £5k+ too high at top and bottom?
