Smart. Needs amber front lights to go with the side indicators and rears too.

That "Cat" car has been listed for a while & clearly people don't see the value as the seller does. It's surely worth no more than £10k on a sunny day?

May I also ask if you have paperwork detailing the most recent service work/oil change?
Do you know which grade oil it was using/how many miles?

I wish you well with the rebuild, will be a corker afterwards.
The service history is a bit patchy in places however there is a Miller's oil analysis from 2020 @ 111k miles, showing healthy status, normal wear metals for the mileage and a viscosity of 30.

I changed the oil just before my trip to Germany, at around 113.5k miles, using Fuchs Titan Pro S 5W-40. When I removed the magnetic sump plug, the light coating of oil on it had a very light sheen to it, nothing untoward.

When we dropped the oil after the tapping sound started, the mag sump plug was covered in metal debris. So we think something has let go while out on track, rather than historical wear, hopefully find out once the engine is in pieces.

I should note too a bill in the history for a partial rebuild at 74k miles, which included two pistons but unknown quantity piston rings (I assume six, as the price for those was £330). So something strange went on back then.

Thanks for the well wishes, I sincerely hope its worth the effort!

Nobody is - unless it's something really really positive about Collecting Cars or whoever owns PH now.

CC are dead ace.

What a mess.

and the location of the car looks like that of a scene in a procedural crime drama. All it is missing is a chalk outline.

it is a £5K car at best.

coupe seems like pretty good value. It's got nice wheels too, factory sports exhaust?

MOT history looks ok. Who fancies rolling the dice?

They probably had their car phone mounted there. MOT history is unbelievable, but it has to happen sometimes. I wonder for how long the PO trader owned the car? Not that the two statements are connected, oh no.

Looks good - get it bought somebody. Or I'll go and look at it if you pay my petrol money hehe

I've still got mine! The upper cubby is silly money and I'm about the originality.

After I got mine I spent 6 months trying to find an old tape to play - parent's loft. I tried it in the tape player and it didnt work. I was gutted.

Originality lost.

That's been for sale for a good while...it might be a combination of location and poor advert but those with a C4 know it is the more affordable version of the Carrera (but for most as good as the 2 wheel drive wink )

I overheard a true Porsche beard once stating that the c4 chassis was stiffer hence why it was used in the original gt3 in 2wd guise... Whip out the silly 2wd gubbins and you've got a winner.

I say that as a c2 owner obvs. Someone else said it had something to do with fuel tanks...

I actually messaged the guy to check he didn't happen to have an x51/junior gt3 but sadly not, just normal bits, sports seats aero pack etc. It is a bit out of the way so maybe that's why it's hanging around?

C4 has a different front bulkhead to accommodate a different fuel tank to fit around the 4wd gubbins… it’s said to be a bit stiffer.

Two problems... but I think they're connected.

996.1 Coupe - so cable operated 'Frunk' opening

I had noticed the bulb for my 'frunk' wasn't working. So ordered a replacement. I've just fitted it.... it's still not working.

I am also getting a 'honk' when I lock the car. I had assumed, this was because I'd replaced the factory stereo with an aftermarket unit. However, after putting electrical tape around the grounding connector, it's still happening.

Do I have some weird failure of the latch mechanism ?

I assume I need to get a multimeter on the bulb connector and check to see if there is power going to it as a starter for ten?

Some of the later 2001 996.1 had an electronic boot latch instead of the cables (I’ve got one).

If you’ve got a horn sound when you lock the car, then either the arm rest lid, tailgate, doors or bonnet isn’t correctly latched. If you’ve grounded the radio earth then you should be able to rule that out. Did the horn only sound once on locking after you replaced the radio head unit..?
