I did a track day at Bedford a few years ago. I just scraped through with my Dansk exhaust and the crusty manifolds it had back then.

When I went past the sound monitors on track close to my friend in a 997 one of us would get hooked for being too loud. We ended up going out separately after getting hooked a couple of times

Bedford is great. They are strict on noise though, I very much doubt you will pass as is.

That looks like a very tired interior, damp too possibly.... door sills not matched? Tippy.... hard pass!

Looking for some advice guys.

Just sold my immaculate 986 Boxster and looking for a nice 996, preferably C4S.

Has to be a manual coupe and not black or silver really.

I have read virtually the whole topic on here so have a pretty good idea of what to look out for and just wondering if anyone has any advice or know of anything decent out there.

Budget of £20,000 ish.

This caught me eye earlier but high miles, some dodgy coilovers and been laid up for a while.....

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/x/196090025849

Cheers.

The lack of information on maintenance would put me off that.

Clutch/water pump stuff is good… but reads like it’s had very little other than that in the last 7 years!

Coil overs not a problem if they are a decent quality.

That's a decent price for a c4s imo. Get the motor scoped though and brace yourself an eventual rebuild.

Also brake lines, new key and modern wireless. I do like Lapis. Also a good match with the blue interior which I think is coming of age. Could be ok that one. Why are the callipers yellow? Just be prepared to have your sexual orientation come into question as it is a 4wd. Although with coil overs you could remove the 4wd gubbins from the front, tweak the front coil overs down a bit and have a C2S which would get some of us Narrow Body guys feeling envious ... maybe.

Interesting colour.

Shame the interior looks like someone has rolled around on a garage floor before smearing themselves over all the seats.

Be interested to hear what the K&N sounds like on that engine.

looks like the respray is proper, door shuts all the right colour.

Shame it's a moon mileage and slushbox.

I got bored of scrolling through 101 photos of a dirty and mouldy interior, but if it's the cone style aren't they meant to sap a bit of power due to heat soak?

So much to dislike except the colour. I only want it for the colour but maybe also the headlamps look nice. Everything else is for the bin. Did anyone notice the roof gutters / rails painted black?

Front spoiler is a cut and shut
Rusty screws sticking out of it
Rear spoiler 'addition' from our friends at Barry
Engine mounts look to be sagging
Do I see some rust on the roof at the top of the rear window seal?

The seller sent over this after I asked a couple of questions.

Might be worth a look?

I don't think this extra blurb adds anything. I dont want to be too negative ... BUT ... my friends 996 had much work to fix the AC because it had a tiny puncture in one of the hardlines running the length under the car. His mechanic had to use a snap on infrared type gun to detect where the AC gas was escaping. Reading that back it doesnt make sense. All I remember was seeing pics from his mechanic holding this heat gun and I remember thinking - I like the heat gun. He had new condensers first then maybe some flexis too - cant remember. Then his AC was still failing - not sure how long it would work for - so his mechanic got stuck in. His bill for this was probably 4 figures.

I think given the history, been laid up for 5 years, the yellow callipers etc, that’s it’s not the car for me really. Cheers ATM.

Yeah, I get you. It looks like it's directly below some air intake and is partially sealed off from the rest of the engine bay so who knows.

I don't get these filters?

The oem is a tube that is designed to funnel cold air straight in, completely sealed off from the heat of the engine bay, these K&N filters have a pretty open vent sort of blow air over it but also open to the heat of the engine.

Just looking at the design says it will be worse than oem, or am I missing something here?

That car is at £11500. I would say it already over priced.

It needs the interior ripping out, carpets dying, seats need new foam then, along with the steering wheel, respraying.
The dash pieces need sorting too, all looking tatty.
Tyres coming up to 8 years old, so need replacing.
Sills have been repaired, and poorly.

It is an auto and 150k miles, so probably worth around £12500 absolute max when it is all done.

Also, it was forrest green to start with, which is one of the best 996 colours, so why paint it?
