This gets fitted on Saturday, I can always revert to the standard wheel if I hate it:
Onto the main subject on my mind today - battery life.
I parked the car, alarm on, then went to Sicily for two weeks.
Came back, car is totally dead - clock set to zero and the radio needing the code entered.
I tried to jump it from the Volvo (also parked for the same length of time and started on the first spin), but the Porsche battery was simply too flat, so the 911 is now standing immobile whilst I wait for a CTEK charger to arrive.
Is this (2 weeks to total flatness) normal? Or is my battery FUBAR?

In the 8+ yrs I've had mine, 2 weeks is about normal.I bought a C Tek a couple of years ago & it would sit in the garage on charge, currently using my garage for other things so the C Tek only gets used occasionally if the weather is dry

If my car stands for a couple of weeks it's slow to turn over, battery usually lasts around 4 weeks before it won't start.
My 996 goes into some form of shutdown after a couple of weeks where button on key does not open doors. Mine has a smaller than standard battery, 095 I think rather than 110? Mainly as it's lighter & there is no massive downside, the larger batteries should last a little longer than mine.
After 5 days no use and to prevent power drain it will hibernate. You will need to use manual key unlock, then register key job in the ignition within 10secs of opening the door to prevent alarm going off.
If flat battery, then interlocks will prevent lid releases - refer to your owners handbook.

mine did this when left for a long period .... ended up getting a little solar charger that you stick in the screen (connects via the OBD port).
It still hibernates, but at least there will be juice.
Started looking for one of these but got quickly overwhelmed by the array of options. Which one do you have?It still hibernates, but at least there will be juice.

Battery - Euro Car Parts have a Bosch S5 100 that I could pick up tomorrow, is that a good choice or would another model be better?
Bosch S5 - Pretty certain it was where I got mine - remember to try discount code on checkout PAYDAY35. Otherwise, wait until weekend for other codes.fot0 said:

Carparts4less cheaper by £20 for that battery. Think they are part of the same company as Eurocarparts too. Some great prices at cp4less, just ordered rear discs and pads for my 996- at £108 for the lot , bargain !! ATM said:
