Guys seem to get the best results (and max. reliability) from really well-balanced components.

I've read internet rumour that the earlier cars make better power and have different pistons. Maybe they're better balanced too?

It appears whoever had successfully won the car in the link below either found something untoward in 996 terms, or wasn't aware that buying a nearly 17 yr old car means you find bodywork imperfections!

I think the car made about £12.7k (ish) last time if anyone fancies an Aerokit C4 manual?
I was actually walking through that dealership today. Didn't see this anywhere however. The showroom might be overstocked but the front yard is pretty empty.
The car made £14,050 this time around....is it a sign "summers coming"?!

Help!

Just opened my 996 and it looks like car had shut down to save battery. Opened lock by turning key. Put key in ignition and got some lights on. But wont start. Took key out and can't pull levers to open front bonnet or rear engine cover. Feels like they're locked. Window for some reason came down 3 inches and wont go back up. Now if i leave it rain will flood in.

Any ideas or call AA?
The levers are indeed locked, but you can flick the lock tab open on the lever with a small screwdriver. This will let you get to the battery to charge it.

Or you can hook something into the cigarette lighter to juice it up.

Yeah I'm toying with the idea of buying something like this now.

Did you try getting out, closing the door and locking it/unlocking it again with your key fob? I'm sure that's all I had to do when my levers locked up.

Tried lots of things. The only thing i dont remember trying is closing the door, moving ignition to position 2 and then pressing the CL button on the dash.

So if i do buy a battery which model / shape do i need?

I've not heard that rumour - but like it with mine being an Oct 1997 car!

Couple of nice low miles early aero cars surfaced from the same seller. Strong money but if you don't ask you won't get I suppose.

Sure are plus private sales so little in the way of back up should things go wrong. Be tempted at 20K as I would love an early aero car as a keeper which is still strong 996 money. I suggest he may not be to committed to selling but just chancing his arm in a moving market.

I’m pretty sure the silver one was on the market before.

The yellow one, wonder what’s the story with the front bumper. The centre hole is opened; only GT3 ones should be opened, the factory aerokit for Carreras are closed (as far as I know). Looks superb though.

The kit to fit a third rad is pretty cheap, might have been done by the owner to keep temps in check.

I think they’re on the money.

I’m intending to sell my 46k mile aerokit m030 PSE C4 later this year and the price I keep coming up with is £28k.

As soon as you get spec specific, colour specific, mileage specific and fussy about “needs nothing” condition and provenance, the pool of available cars gets very small very quickly. These are the first two I’ve seen for a long time which I would consider comparable to mine.

That doesn’t mean I’d get what I want for it, but I know what I wouldn’t take for it, because of what it would cost to replace. These reinforce that to my mind.

On the other hand this looks tremendous value to me - but I bet it’d still need ££££ spending to get it “right”. No sleight on the seller, just different standards and expectations (after looking at and rejecting many many cars!):

The yellow car has a huge history gap.
11 years and 18k miles.

5-year gap in that one's history, too.

I'd agree, but there are limits to what is acceptable really. For me the mileage and time gaps on the yellow car are just to big.
Nice looking thing though.
