Going to look at this later, mileage puts me off a little but depends on what's been done I guess.
The gearbox & interior would put me off more than the mileage, but that's just a personal thing.

Thanks, so do we think they were available from launch? I saw a 1997 car with one fitted and at first thought it might be a later addition, not sure now.
The sticker under the bonnet with the option codes should confirm if it was factory fitted?

I checked the option code on the early 'kitted' car I viewed and unfortunately it looks like it wasn't done at the factory frown

I don't necessarily think you should discount a car that's has the aero kit fitted after manufacture. I've a friend with a C4 that was bought knowing the kit was fitted by a main dealer later in its life with an eye watering invoice in the history folder in his instance. Marky911 is retro-fitting an original aero kit to a C2 as an example (there's a thread on the 911uk forum) as he couldn't find the right spec/history C2 with a kit, so chose to fit it to a car that matched his main requirements.

+1, I think one of the best things about these cars is that they're a canvas which you can paint your own perfect 911 onto - something which is, frankly, a function of how cheap (relatively) they are.

What is the option code for the areo kit on a early 996 as I have the aero kit fitted to mine. (genuine kit, but don't know if fitted from new 98 car).

The downside of this is the cost of everything else - I bought a manifold for mine that cost 13% of what I paid for the car, and then decided not to use it: http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=129220

Wouldn’t bother me whether factory fitted or not... factory would be preference, but getting ‘exactly’ what you want in a 996 is rather tough :-)

Very interesting! How much extra power and torque do you hope the ITBs will give you over the X51 manifold? (And how much over the standard intake?)

Ok, so - the X51 Powerkit was an extensive re-working of the M96 featuring ported heads, more aggressive cams, the intake I have now got for sale, new exhaust manifolds and a tune (there's also additional oiling and cooling, but we'll leave that to one side for the moment).

It centred on a very traditional way of getting more power - make the engine breath better and give it spicier cams, basically.

What would the intake do on it's own? I honestly don't know. It's going to outflow the stock intake, so there should be some gains - but I'd think that it would reward someone who was reviewing the intake and exhaust system with an engine that was in rude health, and I imagine that getting someone like Wayne Schofield to tune it would be key to getting the best out of it.

I'm going to ITB's as the cam and lifter situation makes that more desirable, my engine is a 3.7 litre Hartech short block with Race Techniques heads and cams and it will be turning to slightly more than the stock redline.

£10k starting price for an eBay auction for a 2002 tip that needs engine work...

The 'it will only appreciate' in value is of course thrown in
