what is an 'early' 3.4 996?
Discussion
It's been quite on here, assume a lot of you have tucked your car away for the winter. I don't tuck it away but I do use it less & stupidly wished I had this week. Had a overnight business meeting so left it at airport & when I got home I dropped my cabin bag whilst taking it out of Frunk, leaving a nice scuff above number plate.
I hope it will t cut out, but what is the modern t cut? Ocean blue is the colour

Don't use t-cut too aggressive. If you have access to dual-action polisher, then Autoglym Super Resin Polish. Can done with hand, but may take some work. This should be enough to remove scuff marks. There loads of products out there all with different levels of abrasiveness to finishing polishes, and can be a minefield to the novice. I would then seal with a good wax. yup...... there are a few 997 kitted cars....... but i wouldnt go for a gen 1 997, and there are VERY few gen 2 997 kitted cars
i can see me ending up with a 996/997 turbo or a 997 gen 2 or even 991 in time......... i'd rather not spend that money... but i will have a 911, and it will be guards red :-)

Mines seen some decent use. Lots of airport duty, and the odd run to work most weeks.
Its back in at Porschacare on weds to have a few little bits, including the 997 GT3 shift mechanism. Keeping the standard knob/selector so will let you know how we get on.
Needs a small amount of paint, a few stone chips are starting to look a bit rough. These are the little jobs to keep on top of, before they all add up!
Anyone else heading to next week's Sunday Service?

Mine’s now on 136k miles and has reached a notable milestone this month. It’s now done 50k miles since Hartech spun their spanners around the oily bits.
So that’s the equivalent of twice round the circumference of the earth since the rebuild. Despite approaching its 21st birthday in April the car continues to be as reliable as daylight.
My advice to anyone considering one of these: is to forget any desire for particular colours, gearbox, sunroof, rear wiper, etc etc. Make your only prerequisite that the engine has been rebuilt. You’ll enjoy a car as reliable as a 997.2 for the price of a Vauxhall Corsa.

I'd agree. I thought the same when I bought mine. It had been rebuilt by the previous owner at home himself. Car runs great. Also when firing it up cold runs smoother than my newer Porsche. However when I tried to sell the car people seemed to be turned off by the home brew rebuild. I will add that no one warned me about the potential gearbox problems. I've had a replacement box now and it's so much quieter. I'd assume that all cars still on their original box have added risk as they're old now and tired. I'd like to think you can hear the tell tale whining if you know what to listen for.

Mines on 137k and have never been opened. Runs perfect and has been 100% reliable in 5 years ownership. So that’s the equivalent of twice round the circumference of the earth since the rebuild. Despite approaching its 21st birthday in April the car continues to be as reliable as daylight.

The car was rebuilt by the previous owner. He took the £12k hit and then I bought it off him. So to answer your question, no, I won't need to. You going to get it rebuilt again at 172k?
