what is an 'early' 3.4 996?
Discussion
Weather atrocious up here in Scotland and I’ve done nearly 300 miles this week amd the car and tyres (PS4) have been perfect - just took my bag from the lasssnger footwell and it’s soaking wet, both bag and carpet!
I’ll have a google, but I’m normally good at keeping the drains cleaned

Ahah, appears it can be the door card, which was just off to change the regulator - bet it’s thst leaking because it’s so wet and I’ve been driving
Just to close this off, it was indeed the door card - it wasn't sealed near the leading edge of the door so was letting the water in. Now sealed, but car sitting in the drive with the windows down and sunroof open to try and start drying the carpet - I don't have a wet and dry vac!nebpor said:

Good luck. Took about two months for mine last time. Windows open, roof down, dehumidifier runng 24x7...it's astonishing how much water is retained by the lining under the carpet.Bugger, hope it doesn't take that long - I just had to go shut the car back up as it's about storm force 90 here again in Scotland and pouring!
And yes, used everyday and my aircon is always on anyway. I'll get some gel bags tomorrow and hopefully they will help, plus go to a valleter and get them to use a wet vac on it.

Order some of the silica bags, that might help
I found they were some use, but either way you absolutely need to pull the carpet up and get newspaper/cloths/silica bags or whatever right under the insulation. Just waiting for it to evaporate through the carpet will take...well, I wouldn't like to guess. Probably till the end of the year.deckster said:

Use Cat litter in Old socks, works really well and fairly cheap well known on lotus forums, where leaking roofs are common place. A lot depends on how good you want to get it, and how rapidly you want to get it there.
If it's a project that can be on axle stands for the next 18 months as you gradually go through everything then the incremental nature of the costs make them easy to deal with, even if they amount to a fairly large number at the end.
Paying others to do stuff rapidly is going to cost more.

I believe they're Fuchs or modern replicas. There is some discussion about them here too

The Fuchs are the same offset as Porsche OEM wheels, I think those pictured on the Hungarian 996 are not- but that might be spacers.
Be nice to know exactly what they are before committing quite a chunk of cash.
I suppose I could mess around with spacers on my OEM wheels to find out what fits.

CLR has 17’s, the car above is on18’s. The Fuchs/replicas all look pretty similar, so they could be anyone of a number of makes.
Not sure how you can tell the offsets from that picture, but don’t look particularly extreme. Fronts are still quite tucked, and doesn’t look to be running much camber front or back. As long as you buy decent quality wheels you can get whatever fitment you like with spacers.
I really like them, and that the look I’ll be going for once I’ve sorted a few other bits out.
