Hasn’t his car had a rebuild previously? Or am I misremembering? I’d thought it was one of the plus point s of that particular car (bodywork being a minus).

Yes, he’s got PPBB’s old car, it was rebuilt by Autofarm with steel liners.

It's not a suprise TBH, if it was tracked occasionally. I know a few 996s engine rebuilt at least three times in the first 150k.

It's Mirage Metallic or sometimes known as Paladio Metallic (paintcode 555 I think which covers both names) - if you enter the registration on the DVLA website it doesn't help form a selling point that it says "beige" though if you're after a manual aero kit low miles C2 its not bad if you can live with the colour (I have one in that colour bought at the right £s) I'm sure that particular car will ultimately sell although with Savananh beige interior it isn't the best colour combination (call it a Marmite one!) & if someone made a cheeky offer given winter is approaching & where it's located, they might be able to bag a good deal possibly.
Glad you cleared that up. Mine is meridian metallic and I find if I Google the colour most of the photos that come up look more like mirage/Palladio. Meridian has a hint of gold/beige that's noticeable on sunny days but in UK weather most days it looks a sort of dirty titanium/silver with a bit of pink/purple. Hard to describe and seems to be a bit like those blue/gold dress images that were going about a while ago.

Snapped these crap photos this morning to illustrate what I mean. Forgive the massive arch gaps (on the list). Previous owner did the wheels in anthracite, I don't think it goes. I'm considering black with a silver lip or changing for some OZ in bronze. Will need to Photoshop that up.

Here’s mine in Mirage/Palladio with aero kit & refurbd (powder coat finish) split rim wheels with dark grey centres and painted rim (for durability) recently at Caffeine & Machine (I’ll post up a better picture later). The colour does change in appearance like Meridian & can again look slightly grey at times. Mine has grey leather & carbon fibre trim bits throughout including the steering wheel which is slightly less controversial than the Savannah Beige interior car previously mentioned.

That looks great. I think the only issue with some of the lighter Porsche interiors is how they just go for it 100% like everything is that colour. I think that other one with the Savannah interior would be a great project for someone to just change some of the beige plastics for black and it would be a really unique car with a slightly less OTT interior.

Feel the same about the red interior. If the dash top, wheel etc were black.

I’m just sending a spare steering wheel off for retrimming in black alcantara as my carbon fibre/leather one is a longer term project. There’s always the possibility of retrimming on a Savannah car the centre console bits in black as well (or even buying some used black replacement bits).

has anyone here retrofitted cruise control to an early cable throttle car?

Seems its more involved simply fitting the stalks and ecu coding on the later cars.

You need a cruise actuator/ecu, the throttle pedal with extra cable for it and some wiring.

Theres the parts on ebay to do it.

By the guys that had 2 aero kitted cars? That was my thought, I know someone that tried to buy the Speed Yellow one, and the owner wouldn't budge even a fiver on the price

There are a few how-to guides online. I looked at it and decided against it. Not a straightforward task.

I wondered if it was the same car, but I thought the miles were lower on the other car?

Those 2 were yellow and silver - no beige.

It's the yellow one we're referring to.

98, C2, man, 135k, £9995.

Current owner for ten years and just spent £3.5k on it but it's a casualty of divorce.

Being a kid in the 80’s and loving the whale tail 911’s I think it’s just stuck with me, if it ain’t got a wing then it’s not my thing smile
Appreciate the link.

I just wanted to add that 80's whale tailed 911's were Turbo's not Carrera's. The wing that's your thing on a 996 Carrera is an aero wing.

I love the aero kit - but only on a GT3.
I prefer a Carrera to look like a Carrera, it is its own look in the line-up.

No its not the same car, pretty sure this is someone off 911 who mentioned he was selling soon. The other one had more colour coding on the interior.

The 911 SC and 3.2 Carrera were available with an optional factory fit "Sport package" kit which comprised the whaletail, a front lip, lower stiffer suspension and wider, larger diameter wheels. A beard will be along soon to give you the finer details (as they probably ordered a car in this very spec back in the 70's/80's ...)

Edit to add preliminary beardage here : https://www.impactbumpers.com/forum/index.php?/top...
