That's the other project, for next year - I'm going to focus on this being 100% a road car, and I'll strip out and cage a coupe for use as a silly track car.

I cant decide if I need to go to a winter tyre setup. I bought 2 sets of identical 17 wheels. The current set on the car wear some ps3 tyres. The other set in my lockup wear ps2. I think I have a couple of 225 45 winters which would work as rears. So I just need a pair of 205 50 fronts. Both sets are boring silver but my current ps3 set are the more tatty.

So I'm also thinking about a refurb but cant decide on the colour. Silver is far too boring on a silver car. I know grey is boring but with the bright red calipers I have may look ok. I could be bold and add some gold. Maybe grey or black centres and then gold rim. Maybe that's a bit much. The other option is a single colour in the same burgundy as the seats - you see what I did there - or just a duller red / burgundy. But the bright red calipers would need to go to silver/ black or gold or something. I dont particularly like gold before anyone thinks I'm another Gulzar but the Porsche badge is black, red and gold. That's the only thought process.

Welcome to the club.

Although as your car is a 4wd I'm not sure it gives you the full enter all areas back stage pass.

I didn't buy it. Both my 996s have been 2WD.

Oh no

I thought you'd got involved. Who is the new owner to you?

Got my new radio in, the trim shop can't fit me in until the new year for the seat so I'll be packing the car away tomorrow.

did you put new speakers in as well or is DAB clear enough on original ones?

The whole system is new, you can just see the Focal sub under the passenger side of the dash, the speakers are Morel, and there’s a J&L six channel amp where the Nokia/Haes unit used to be.

With that said I’m buggered if I can work out how to work the DAB yet.

Luke.

Have you pressed the DAB button?

The Continental DAB unit I have in mine works brilliantly... I also have the Alpine speaker upgrade, but I'm using the stock amp.

Sounds much better than the stock set up and DAB works perfectly.

Did you have to upgrade the aerial? That's the bit that's always put me off a DAB.

Yes. Has a stick on Ariel running across the top of the windscreen for the DAB.

Stock Ariel remains for FM reception.

Yes, fine if I want TalkSport, not so fine for Radio 4 - can't find that channel.

Even in the wet I couldn't mine to slide by just going quicker and quicker into the same bend. I bottled it before the car lost grip but clearly I'm a pussy.
Your tyres must be very good. I have an 01 C4 with PSM as standard. Even with 4 wheel drive I can quite easily get the light blinking coming off a local roundabout that can usually be taken at pretty high (but legal) speeds.

Admittedly the Pirelli's on the car are shagged.
Coming back to this.

I've noticed a few wheel spin moments in mine recently. Usually tight turns, lower speed and generous throttle. Car doesn't slide or get out of shape so I think its just cocking it's inside rear wheel and this is spinning a bit. That might get your light blinking.

Could well be that. Big roundabout where you can accelerate round and off into a relatively long, tight, left hander. The exit also has that rough, beige/yellow extra grippy surface so it possibly isn't sliding. The flashes but there's no noticeable lateral movement.

The tyres are shagged though. Plenty of tread left but they are at least 9 years old and the sidewalls look like gordon Ramsays forehead. Will be changed before going back on the road.

In mine, not so much - I've located Radio 4 now, but it's unusable, signal drops in and out, and whilst it's lovely and clear when it's working the 2 seconds of signal/10 seconds of silence make it impossible to follow the program to which you are trying to listen - I take it that this is not normal for DAB?

Not normal... mine is rock solid other than signal black spots. Crystal clear compared to FM.

I get radio stations I didn't even know existed.
