295 is a bit much for a 10” wheel. I’d need 11” tests for those!

Your wheel tyre combo looks sweet though.
I've got 295s on the new 996 and not sure it needs them - it feels a bit more numb although hard to say if that's from the tyres. My other one has 265s with an LSD and that has more traction and feels more nimble at the same time.
What difference does the gt3 master cylinder make?

I guess it sounds better when they are standard fit 5mm spacers on the GT3 rather than the same standard fitment on a 550 Boxster biggrin
I don’t know much about Boxsters I’m afraid.

Ouch

I like them. I prefer a Boxster for soft-ness than a 911. Better looking car with the roof down if you ask me. 911 looks chopped off and bum sticks up. Its basically the same car if you ignore which way round the engine is and whats going on behind the front seats so all the controls feel the same. Bit less power and the handling is different once you start turning but otherwise same car. Worse bit for me is there is an inch or so less legroom. Seat doesn't go as far back as it hits the bulkhead for the engine.

Seems to be a firmer pedal with a bit more feel.

Hard to say for sure with the EBC yellowstuff pads though as from prior experience they seem to feel very wooden, especially when cold.

I've got EBC yellow on my big BMW so zero feel anyway. I think the feel a bit sticky but that could be my old rusty calipers needing some lube or all sorts really.

I had my EBC pads fitted to the dustbin after a track day, they're ste. Changed to Pagid Blue pads and had braided hoses fitted at the same time, much better set up

Am I the only one that doesn't like 17" wheels on a 996?

And Chris, 295/35 rears. You know it makes sense!
Nope. I like the style but think they just look too small. I also don't like LMs. To me they only suit older slab sided cars like older Merc's, BMWs and mk1 and 2 golfs.

The red works on nicely on the 3.4 996 Carrera with those wheels

There was one last year sometime around May.

I really like that, the red really suits the non aero cars. What colour is that interior, steering wheel looks metropole blue but seats look charcoal grey

I think my rear driver side brake is sticking on, I thought it was just because it sat for a few days but it didn't seem to release & was squeeling & hot after 2 miles.
Anyone know if this is one of our known issues?

No idea

I had this on another car but with basic calipers and it was caused by corrosion making the caliper sticky or not moving freely.

Not sure that's so relevant with the fancy 4 pots but the pistons can get crude inside as I've seen refurb kits with new seals and pistons. So maybe caliper needs a refurb.

Also not sure how the handbrake works but that could be sticking on too.

Handbrake cables / mech can get gummed up.
Also the pads can possibly get stuck on the slider pins - i fully clean my calipers at least every brake pad change, and sometimes when i do a flush / bleed too.
Worst case you could have a sticky / rusty piston.
Very easy to take apart and at least diagnose tho

I found that it was my handbrake that had been seized on at some time, somebody had driven it to release it off but this affectively ripped the handbrake shoes off the back plate breaking the springs and retaining pins. Had to rebuild all the mechanism and some of the parts prices for springs and clips are eye watering when you price them up. Hand brake often goes neglected until one day it fails to hold.

Be careful as the heat generated from a sticking caliper etc can overheat the wheel bearing

Would anyone take a punt on this and drive it while saving for a rebuild on the cylinders, could use it as major leverage

It feels a touch underpriced considering the history and spec, unless the scoring is worse than detailed or other issues lurk?

Edit; just realised it's a Carrera4 so arguably slightly less desirable.

Why am I the only one who thinks its over priced because we know the engine is scored?
