Sad day for me. It's time for the 996 to leave me.

Please can you lot give me some feedback on my advert? Too much or not enough detail? Way out of touch with the asking price?

Where abouts are you based?

Halfway between Leeds and Lancaster.

So do I, but I'm a realist and know that cat-d (even though its a kosher car), self serviced (I'd argue better as its had everything), bad paint on one side, bad time of year (winter) and volatile economic outlook (br___xit) add up to sub £10k when you consider what you can get for £13k.

I could knock it up to £10750 but everyone knows now what I'd take laugh

You can change the price at anytime until its sold - up or down. And you dont have to accept any offer just because it was advertised at that price. I'd of tried for a bit more and see what happens. Depends if you're in a rush or can wait a wee while.

What would you go for? You seem to have your finger on the pulse of the market.

I don't but generally the belief is 25% below market value for a cat d and therefore you need to decide what market value is. Your price sees you saying market value is 12 and I think that's low. I don't see many cars for sale at 12. Do you?

Only ebay auctioned cars I suppose, mainly cabs and tips.

My car is Cat-D but with a properly verified story, pictures of minimal damage, repair and receipts. The owner that had the accident has offered to confirm with any buyer and even went to Jaz to get me a print out of history from that time. but I'm aware it still has that black cloud of "write off" hanging over it.

Maybe not on PH but try a bit harder elsewhere.....

There's over 20 x 911s on Autotrader for less than £12k (all 996s). One has an insurance category and some will have huge mileages but I haven't waded checked through them:

Yes.

A decent Cat D 996 3.4 is a sub-10k car. There was a precedent last December.

I bought my C4 in 2018 though I’ve swapped the “pews” for something more comfortable IMO from Cobra
Let's see them

Sorry, not the best photography though you’ll get the idea! As usual a great job on the steering wheel by Jack at Royal Steering Wheels thumbup
How much did the retrim cost, out of interest? I'd be very tempted to do similar (with black seat centres and everything....)

That's assuming they were retrimmed. Do let me know if you sell.

Less than the asking IIRC.

That and the insurance payout is often less than you paid / more difficult to argue.

I bought a CAT D before, probably wouldn't again

The seat centres & console bits were trimmed by Cobra as part of the package so I can’t comment on retrimming original seats (if that’s what you’re after). Southbound Trimmers and D Class are amongst the names I’ve seen mentioned before for retrimming as well as
Bespoke Leathering who’ve appeared on Car SOS. There are also companies who’ll recolour/repair the existing leather.

I’ve used D:Class for a few things, they have become victims of their own success- huge amount of work for McLaran, amongst others, means that they’ve become very hard to deal with for smaller jobs. I gave up trying to get a quote to re-trim a Recaro bucket confirmed- not issued, confirmed- as the months passed.

I don't think you're miles out on your pricing was8v... the swirling might polish out, but the surface rust on the front wings needs sorting, so probably best to paint the whole front to get the paint match right.

I had the front of mine painted last year, along with a small bubble repaired on the top of the NS wing and it was £800. Yours needs a bit more than that, plus the door strikers need doing and a few other bits... I reckon around £2k. If the rust is only on the surface I'd not bother changing the panels.

Add in £400 for a wheel refurb and the new owner would be at £11.5k.

Makes sense, or just drive and enjoy a 911 whilst not losing any money and not having anything mechanical to do for a while.
