what is an 'early' 3.4 996?

Both indies I’ve used have always set my 18’s to 32F, 40R which I believe is 4psi lower than Porsche recommend.
I’ve been running PS2’s for about 10yrs & it’s not too bad.
I always ran mine on this pressure I’ve been running PS2’s for about 10yrs & it’s not too bad.
Stock psi is for German roads, autobahn and 150mph
Not terrible UK roads
Mine was awful at stock psi, and a dream a few psi down

+20 years on does that have any relevance at all?Even Virgin were in on it back then, my MR2 Spyder came from Holland if I remember correctly via Virgin Cars for about 15% less than a uk dealer.
In fact even more recent, who is the official Porsche service centre who can’t sell new cars? Byfleet? They were fetching in Macans from UAE market, swapping the clocks over to miles and selling them as second hand brand new imports when there was a long waiting list for them. All delivery miles and with Porsche uk blessing.
When the 996 was new and build slots were limited a lot of rhd none uk cars came in via the grey import market.

There was a glut of C98 spec cars come over new. I can't remember what the differences are between a Cypriot car and a UK car, we weren't allowed to retail them used when I sold Porsche.
I'm no expert but I believe one difference with the C98 cars is that the rear wiper wasn't standard and had to be optioned in, so a decent number don't have it as with this one at FGP.LaurasOtherHalf said:
Everyone is different, it would make zero difference to me especially considering I bought a grey import back then as thousands of others did.
Personally, since I prefer the look of the 996 without the rear wiper, I would specifically look for a C98 car, but it's not the sort of information that people provide upfront. With the UK cars I never understood the people who specced the aerokit from new, but didn't opt out the rear wiper to align better with the looks of the GT3.

I removed my rear wiper, makes the rear look much cleaner
Need to get on and do this to mine.Had to drive into the office yesterday (while staying alert as I'm sure everyone will be pleased to hear) and I've got to say I am enjoying the new M030 suspension. Not fiddled about with tyre pressures yet but the car feels much more planted and also keen to turn in.
Still pretty comfy too. Not sure I'd want to go much stiffer for road driving but it should feel good on track as well for a road car.
Looking forward to a bit of a drive out this weekend (along with presumably the whole South Coast).

I’ve also done the wiper delete... and badge delete.
Have you got the full M030 kit with the ARB’s? The ARB’s make a big difference to the handling... really sharpens up the turn in.
Nope not got the ARBs yet - that's next on the list.Have you got the full M030 kit with the ARB’s? The ARB’s make a big difference to the handling... really sharpens up the turn in.
I don't suppose you know what the diameter of the M030 front and rear ARBs for a C2 manual are do you?
The parts list here:
https://www.design911.co.uk/pages/diagramsBrowser....
Seems to suggest either 18.5mm or 19.6mm or even 20.7mm for the rear, 19.6 and 20.7 also shared with the X74 package. I guess that the diameter increases with weight so an auto cabrio 4 gets the stiffest and a manual non sunroof C2 (me) gets the 18.4mm?
the parts diagram for the front doesn't suggest any numbers, but I understand the 986 S ARB is the correct part which is useful as they're dirt cheap if that's true.
Have got a powdercoater down the road from work so going to paint them red for extra cool points.
I have new Koni Special Actives, PS4s & a Turbo rear ARB (stiffer than standard) on my '98 C2 as well as new coffin arms and other bits.
Drives really well I have to say, but not "stiff". It's really OEM in feel and flavour. Comfortable, no understeer and most of all very easy to read and forgiving. If I used it more on track, it'd be too soft. But for the occasional day as well as for the public road, it works well.

What do we think of this '98 Carrera 2.
Lots to like here for me including colour, spec, amber indicators, two keys, plenty of history and so on. And I do like the early ones.

Only problem is it's Cat S. I asked the seller for any photos and he sent through these.
I've no idea if that represents a heavy shunt or not, but it's being sold by an Accident Repair place so presumably they've bought it in, fixed it, run it for a bit and are now moving on.
Price is £10,450. Too high for a Cat S would you say?
