Yeah that's Lee Sibley, Editor of Total 911 magazine

His insta @lee_sibbs has some decent content too and he does a decent podcast clap
Agreed. Seems a reasonable bloke, well informed and not up his arse unlike some out there.

Re the Cat S car recently discussed, thanks for all the input so far. I found it also advertised here, along with a list of what there are receipts for:

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1116432

Lots done it seems (to these untrained eyes) but nothing since March 2018 which is when I suspect the seller acquired it.

Re Lee Sibs (That Nine Eleven Guy), I am enjoying the videos of his own 996. I considered that car when it was for sale (some time ago), but like others was put off by it having been wrapped. I think he had borrowed it from the place selling it to review it for his channel and ended up buying it.

That is as clean an MOT record as you can reasonably expect I reckon. And it has M030 and an LSD 'Has a limited slip diff and sport suspension which were both optional extras.'.

I would be very tempted to buy that for 9k as a driver's car.

Always a bit suspicious of 'This is my son's car' though. Can he not use a computer?

Yes few jobs done. Nothing in last couple of years wouldn't scare me. The common belief is an old LSD will do nothing.

True, it's what everyone says, so I had my 60,000 mile one tested and it was working fine.

Did 'Having it tested' involve holding the car at 6k revs and dumping the clutch?

-100 man points if not.

I get -150 for having bought a car without one.

Spotted this on 911uk.
Not sure if it's against the PH rules posting a link to another forum.
Maybe of interest

A few people discussing it on 911UK. Simplifies the plumbing, removes some parasitic drag on the engine, moves weight from the back of the engine to the front.

Hi all, been reading this thread...put a deposit down on an early 3.4 Carrera the other day and a, looking at getting an inspection and then collecting it as soon as is possible under current conditions.
Any words of wisdom?!

The electric steering pump? I believe the Vauxhall zafira pump is the same or similar to the cup one and can be picked up very cheaply. At the moment the rest of the set up is diy but hopefully someone will make a kit soon.

One thing I missed is be aware of noises from the gearbox, and a propensity to jump out of gear. Whining when lifting off is a symptom of a worn pinion bearing and a rebuild is circa 3k, plus the labour to remove and refit. Early cable throttle cars much less likely to suffer from ims bearing issues and bore scoring, as well as being lighter. Other than that lots of buyers guides out there, good luck!

Would this not alter the feel of the car? I can see weight saving and distribution benefits, but if it affects the weight and feel of the steering in not so sure it's a good idea

I'm curious too. It mentions 996 cup cars. They are outright racers so dont give a monkeys about feel. I've seen a 997 cup car on here with the little pump and pipes in the frunk. Battery was down there too so not up high like our road cars.
