Anyone on this thread pick up the C4 (black, reg T212) that was for sale on here today?

Gutted to say the least, messaged the owner very quickly after the ad popped up (within an hour). Sent a text/tried to call to arrange to view but sadly by the time I spoke to him, someone had already arranged to view it and bought it today. Unfortunate as I'd offered to leave a deposit etc.

Whoever got it looks like they got a good car, all the nice bits and bobs! Was priced well at £15k too.

Well spotted

Could these hard back sports seats have been added later. I'm not sure they ship in silver with a red car.

The seats are definitely a later addition - they're from a 986 nerd

No door pocket on a 996?

And so we go round the mulberry bush

I'd guess minimal use over the last few years and therefore no jobs done. Total guess. We all know the starter gets lazy on these - like mine is - but it can also need the y cable changing to affect a fix.

The MOT history won't show on that reg number. Always a good indication of how it;s been maintained. I'm amazed at the number of supposedly well maintained cars, which have had the same advisories on for several years running.

996 sports seats don't have seat-belt stays.

Worth a look for sure - I'm not too far from Bromley.

The parking sensors... ouch - how much can you pickup a new rear bumper for these?

The spec of the one that went yesterday (for £15k) was pretty strong.

In the last 4k it'd had the following:
- IMS/Clutch
- Discs & Pads
- Air Oil Seperator
- Plugs
- Coil Packs
- Coffin Arms
- Top Mounts & Alignment
- Exhaust/cats
- GT3 throttle body/plenum
- RSS engine mounts
- MOMO wheel
- BMC filter
- Bilstein Coilovers
- H&R ARB

I'm cynical about any car advertised without a list of things refreshed/fixed in the last few years. Lines like "well maintained" just mean nothing.

Someone on the facebook group said they were going to view the guards red and green goblin interior car today. I think I could just about tolerate the seats and door airbag covers being that colour if the rest was black.

Not sure I really get excited enough to spend a couple of grand to make the changes. I could get excited about the duck tail from a weight saving perspective because the boot lid weighs far too much and the moving spoiler adds unnecessary complexity. But still not sure about the massive gaps leaving half my engine open to the elements.

I've been thinking about getting hold of a standard engine cover, cutting the slats out, smoothing the edge and fitting a mesh insert sort of like some pre 964 911s similar to the 991 GT3 touring cover.

This one, the Gumtree one above

Sounds a little on the stranger side. It didn't get an MOT in the last 4 years (apparently was in storage) - never a single advisory. First MOT out of storage it failed for the following:

May 2020 - 57,994 miles
March 2019 - 57,938 miles
August 2015 - 57,790 miles

Repair immediately (major defects):

Nearside Rear Shock absorbers has a serious fluid leak (5.3.2 (b))
Nearside Brake pipe excessively corroded (1.1.11 (c))

The seller seems to have the service book and nothing else, apparently the brake pipe and shock absorber have been replaced and it's had servicing, but nothing more was mentioned.

I might be being a little too picky - but it doesn't really seem to be worth bothering with - what's others thoughts?

If you don't look you'll never know. It might be in lovely condition. Add a couple of £k for a few bits and bobs as required and you have a good car.

If you want a black aero 4 with grey seats and low mileage then you dont have much choice so get it bought. Might need a few bits doing and might not. You will never know till you jump in. If someone else buys it this weekend will you feel like you missed out?

Appreciate the comments, maybe it's just me but I wasn't actually specifically after a 'low milage' car - if anything it does put me off slightly (given it's covered a max of a few hundred miles in the last 5 years) - I'd be concerned about things cropping up. Arguably I'd find a higher mileage one more attractive like the one I missed out on yesterday.

I appreciate these cars (especially good ones) are few and far between now, and I'm definitely intending to buy a car; having tried to leave a deposit on two previously.

I will have a think about going to have a look at it, but if there's no paperwork other than the service book, I am not convinced (personally) that it would be a good buy, in relative terms.

Appreciate it might sound like I'm just thinking, rather than intending to buy - but honestly I am not really in a need to rush - even if I might have got a little impatient as of late.

Hartech rebuilt manual 3.4, for less than the price of a hartech rebuild.

Legit question, if there's no service history, how do you (or the seller) evidence the £12k Hartech rebuild?

Seem to recall Hartech not openly discussing work carried out on PO's cars.

Got to be careful saying that. Hartech rebuilds start around £8k if I remember correctly and they take umbrage to the implication that it will cost more.

Good price for a car with a rebuild even if it is a CAT N.
