Having second thoughts about selling my C2..... so...... I think I might do a little tinkering.
Firstly, the car has standard silencers. Has anyone tapped into the blank outlet to increase sound a bit.
Also my car has "comfort" seats which I don't especially like so would like to buy some standard seats in metropole if anybody has a nice set for sale?
Cheers

I've read that 9x7 seats slot straight in but the wiring doesn't. They're much better seats which seat you lower down and a bit further back so its becoming a popular mod for the 986 but equally relevant for the 996. So I'd be considering those if I were going for some Porsche seats. Even the standard 9x7 seats are much better than the standard 9x6 seats which I have and I think they're absolutely rubbish. Unfortunately there is some substantial Porsche tax on these seats second hand so thats why after market gets interesting.

I've got a drivers side hardback sports seat that you could borrow to see if you like it? It's just sat in my garage at the moment, Metrepol leather with Arctic silver back.

That's a really generous offer. Partner of the one on the left:
I'd be interested in buying both seats. I'm not sure where Mrs Dammit would sit though.

Metropole. I'd rather keep it 996 really, even if I do have 997 wheels.I've read that 9x7 seats slot straight in but the wiring doesn't. I quite like the asymmetry - although I am aware that I'm on my own in holding that opinion.
It's also not inexpensive, £850 for the seat, £450 for the base, and £2,000 to have it re-trimmed in Porsche perforated leather with OEM Porsche heating elements in the cushions, plus the shell painted body colour.
The drivers side hardback seat is just sitting in my garage, wrapped in plastic, so if you wanted to see what they're like before committing to buying some it's an option. I quite understand that you'd prefer matching seats though.

Thats a generous offer from Dammit and if you're close I'd have a go at that. I've tried the 986 sports seats briefly in another car and didn't really feel much difference. For reference I believe the seat base and it's cushion are the same from the standard seat to the sport seat. So if thats true its just the back and its wings which differ.

Get with the upgrade plan Pork Pie. We're all moving to 997 shifters you know. 997 seats are the natural progression.

I have a 997 gear shift. I'm not normally that keen on changing from standard spec but will have a gander at 997 seats.Thats a generous offer from Dammit and if you're close I'd have a go at that. The seats (standard part electric jobs) in mine are my biggest complaint. They are a slight improvement over the full electric comfort seats that were in the turbo purely because the part electric ones go lower. It's the back more than the base that's the problem. It's like it's designed for someone with a very skinny, long back with no shoulder width and a lumbar that goes from their arse crack to their shoulders. Gives a real feeling of sitting on the seat rather than in it.
I tried the 997 seats and didn't find those much better although they were firmer, which I preferred. 9X1 seats are a big improvement but they are silly money. I'd love to change mine but it's very difficult to get something that still gives the rear access I need for the kids, adjustability so the wife can drive sometimes and doesn't look to "because race car" try hard.

Are these metropole - look cheap as chips if you ask me.
Just visually the base looks much more bucket like.

Hmmm. Not sure about the colour. I don't find my current seats unpleasant to use, I just don't like the look of them.Just visually the base looks much more bucket like.

Mine have very little wear as well so I could probably cobble together 2 decent seats if I could source a pair of standard items in decent nick.

Hi Dammit, what make/model is the drivers seat? I am thinking of swapping out my drivers seat for a Pole Position and it would be useful to keep passenger comfort seat to keep access to rear seats (only used very occasional) It's also not inexpensive, £850 for the seat, £450 for the base, and £2,000 to have it re-trimmed in Porsche perforated leather with OEM Porsche heating elements in the cushions, plus the shell painted body colour.

I don't know what other colour than metropol it would be (other than a special order from Porsche Exclusive, which is unlikely).Just visually the base looks much more bucket like.

At that price it is an absolute steal!!! Get some colour lock dye and give them a thorough clean and refurb. The will look almost perfect after that!
(2h of your time an £50 for enough dye and conditioner for the whole interior)
Also they have the Porsche crest embossed on the them, nice touch and an extra at the time that cost the same or more than this lot today!
I have these exact base seats in my 997 and they really are lovely to sit in. Having rather wide shoulders, I prefer them to the sports seats.
And as ATM has said, they have a very nice "buckety" feel to them.
If I'd have a metropol blue 996 interior, I'd have bought them up immediately!
BTW, I'm a big fan of metropol interiors!! With the right exterior colour an absolute classy look and just somehow more clever than just black (says the one with an all black interior....)
