£20k seems off the mark for that silver car based on what we know. It's had a full suspension refresh but that probably covers about half of that £10k over 5 years and it's been maintained by a garage so higher cost than self service. I'm not taking anything away from it or saying it's not a nice car but lets be real. Porky's car had a much more comprehensive list of horrible jobs (such as the manifolds) that had been done with almost half the mileage and nobody priced that at £20k. I'd say 15-16.

Anyway, enough about prices. Had mine out it's first decent drive. Geometry is all over the shop after the suspension rebuild and I've got a horrible constant creaking noise coming from the front. Still felt pretty good.

Also refurbished my headlights. How do I post pics?

And drag and drop from your desktop. Then paste the link. No need to set up an account if you don't want to but it can be a good place to store images.

Creaking from the front is odd - you changed your coffin arms I assume?

EDIT: I do enjoy your username BTW

Yes. Replaced the coffin arms, tuning forks, BC coilovers with 997 top mounts (it's a C4), drop links, ARB bushes and had the ARB powder coated. I'm thinking it's possibly the ARB bushes squeaking against the powder coated ARB.

No noise when sat parked and turning the wheel so I don't think it's top mount, ball joint or strut bearing related. No clunks or bangs so it's not a case of anything is loose.

Ad reads well, Porsche classic head unit nice touch. Seems to be quite a few nice C2 coming on to the market at the moment, certainly more than last year when I was trying to get one. Lucky buyers!

I know they came in for flack on another forum but I love them. I love their commitment to the cause. Singlehandedly driving the UK 996 market to a healthy place.

I absolutely agree. The cars look well prepared and sell quickly for good money. I spoke to Luke about mine and he sounds like a decent bloke who is genuinely enthusiastic.

If they are worth more people are more likely to spend on preventative maintenance and when a full Hartech rebuild is no longer more than the value of the car it is slightly easier to justify!

I hope they push up values of gen 2 cars!!

IMO higher values might lead to more being better cared for rather than run into the ground and scrapped. Ultimately leading to a better supply of decent cars for those of us who have an interest.

As an owner I welcome a slight uptick in prices. Why the hell not.

A 996 is never going to be in that league. Having owned air cooled up until 3 years ago I do tend to agree that things got a bit out of hand and removed some of the ownership enjoyment though.

I put about 5K miles a year on mine, even if the value rockets on them I cant see adding 5K to a 130K motor affecting the price that much

I agree, a lot of people who have never had a Porsche before would be nervous about buying it private but add in a specialist who has serviced it, put a year MOT on it & gives you some warranty while addressing any issues for a £3k premium is not a bad thing.
good luck to them.

The flak was about how he handled a customer, nothing to do with anything else. Hopefully he's learnt from it, as it's good to have a 996 specialist.

To be fair, the ad now says they've just done the clutch, RMS, IMS bearing and given it a full service including plugs, front suspension upper mounts, bearings and bump stops, so they've added about £3K worth of work to it in order to sell. It onl;y got taken down from Ebay in the last 24 hours, so they must have worked quickly on it. Service date is in the future too.

Not quite the model I'm waiting for, but seems a decent buy for the money, considering the work which has now been done.

FGP loves the ‘upgraded IMS bearing’, but I guess that’s what their customers want.

The wording from the original ad would suggest that's not accurate. If it were, their business model has a significant flaw.

I don't ever expect 996 prices to go air cooled crazy but I'd certainly be happy for a decent one to command a strong price. I've been through price rises with other cars and I've never experienced any downside from an owners perspective.

It's a moot point anyway. Prices are comfortably stable right now but it's not exactly clear skies on the horizon.
