It’s a lovely looking car but 13 years between services!
That’s been parked up for some time surely.
(I think) the story goes that it was parked up but used and serviced very infrequently, just the services were not put in the book as the family owned a Toyota franchise. That’s been parked up for some time surely.
I know the car and it is stunning.

The guy who owns it does all the electrical work on my properties, he had to twist the owners arm to sell it as he'd known of it for some time. The mileage is genuine, I'm 100% sure of that. It's had all the bits done that it needs but it does have the hole in it's history.
It's a really sticky one, I've looked at £70k 996 GT3s that aren't as good as this one but it aint a GT3. As always, the top end of a market is a tricky place to be and someone always has the storage time as a stick to beat it with.
The mantra of this thread is condition, condition, condition, but when it's top dollar it's condition, condition, condition and history

Interested to see what this will go for. All the big jobs done by the looks of it, lovely colour combo if you get on with the interior... shalmaneser said:

To be fair to him, all that history is still mostly valid given the limited miles. Was a really straight, clean, car when I got rid of it. Whoever buys it would be pretty happy I should think.
Mine is silver with red. When I bought it I was only planning to keep it a few months. just to see what all the fuss was about. Now it feels like its staying. I really like the red interior as it feels somewhat retro and a bit more Porsche if that makes sense. The one thing I'd change given a blank cheque would be the colour. Silver is a bit meh. So in my dark hours I consider buying another with interesting colours. But maybe I'm just dreaming.
I love the red interior on the 996/Boxster.
Just finished up the gearbox rebuild/clutch and flywheel change/RMS and IMS inspection on the 996. Running better than ever and feels great to have largely put to bed a couple of the big worries of the platform (touch wood).
The dreaded IMS in all it's glory! Was in great condition as it happened, big strong double row version which was pleasing as my car is '00/W reg so not a dead cert to get one.
Just been out for a spin up and down the motorway to confirm the pinion bearing whine has gone, glad to say it has been fixed and the car feels great. Shame it's just been fixed in time for lockdown...

Wow good result there, well done 👏 The dreaded IMS in all it's glory! Was in great condition as it happened, big strong double row version which was pleasing as my car is '00/W reg so not a dead cert to get one.

Was there any recommendation to do a sort of run in style oil change after a few hundred miles or so on the gearbox at all?...I suppose not actually.

Glad you love it ... have you got any pics instead of the black beemah? Just finished up the gearbox rebuild/clutch and flywheel change/RMS and IMS inspection on the 996. Running better than ever and feels great to have largely put to bed a couple of the big worries of the platform (touch wood).

I can't say no to that request. Such a great car, but it was getting on a bit - sold it at 160k miles! Preferred it to the E46 M3 I had afterwards, engine was sweeter IMO with the throttle cable and crisper exhaust note without the E46 rasp. Plus no traction control ruining the fun.
/end thread derailment
M5 London - no run in oil change required as far as I know. Clutch was pretty stinky though as it was bedding in although it's a lot better 100 miles later.

So I've joined the early 996 club, a 1998 manual including the 014 option, silver/black with an odd part aero kit specified. I'm not a fan of the rear skirts so I'm hoping I can remove these without too much fuss but I fear they have been fitted using epoxy. other things planned are centre console delete, 964 rs engine mounts and orange light swap. Its booked into nine excellence next week for a look over so maybe a few more jobs to add once they've had a look.

I removed them from a Mk1 996 GT3. IIRC they're screwed/bolted on as well as stuck on Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
