Utterly stunning. Well done that man for owning that motor.
Thanks!
I have a list of things to do but none that have stopped me enjoying it so far.
AC condenser, rust starting on front arches due to stone chips, front wheel barrels poorly refurbished in the past... that sort of thing.

Despite my moaning earlier I haven't given up just yet ha ha. However if I pass on it I will let you know and pm the extra info I have been given by the vendor smile
Perfect, thanks.
Think I just figured out which one it is, a Carrera 4?

I'm looking for a 2, does look good though.

Two years is a long time and a lot of effort to find a perfect car when you could be using a 90%er and planning upgrades. The cost differential would be tiny too.

.
It took me even longer to find my 330i manual touring msport 'daily'! - It was worth the wait to find the perfect example as I had other cars whilst the search was ongoing, so it's not like we had nothing to drive. 3 years down the line and still have no intention of moving it on, just carrying out a suspension overhaul (on the back of cooling overhaul, belts tensioners last year) and should be good for another few years yet.

On the 996 I've just booked it in for a preventative water pump change along with Hartech LTT, oil pressure valve + a swap from Pirelli's to Michelin's smile

Surely the cost of driving to view so many cars would pay to remedy many of the issues with some of the cars viewed earlier anyway?!

If you for those from boxa.net ask him about some of the other little mods and upgrades. They are good for replacing old worn or failing items. Eg gear shifter bushes, gearbox mounts.

I messaged the chap from boxa.net but he went totally silent on me, despite offering the asking price up front. Ended up buying a pair of OEM Litronic lights off the 996 group on Facebook and using vinyl to amber them.

I purchased this low mileage '99 manual last month and love it to bits smile just wanted to say this thread has been very insightful so thankyou all.

Lovely, that's exactly what mine looked like 6 weeks ago before the wheel refurb and re-ambering.
I may go back to silver wheels. Undecided.
Thanks. Am tempted with some minor upgrades myself including;

Litronic lights - anyone have any recommendations with this and a rough cost?
Alcantara steering wheel & gear knob

I fancied the chunky square gear stick until I saw the price

I fancy a Cup steering wheel, should break the Grey up inside the car.

Picked it up earlier after the water pump packed up the other weekend, really looking forward to taking it for a run on Sunday

No it's not. Would you like a 60k mile pampered one for £27k?
hmmm, but my wish-list would also include these than;

- Autofarm Rebuilt (Sorry hartech, you guys are too faraway! hehe)
- Evans Coolant
- CSF radiators + poppopbangbang's cooling hack's (Radiator fan controls with Evo)
- Manual
- Silver or Blue
- 60-70k mile

could not care less about any other inside options from seats to A.C...

And all these for a shy of 30k, is it too much or should I call Santa? thumbup

Yeah a cup wheel would be lovely. How much are you looking at for one of those?

Enjoy your Sunday blast. Just gone for a quick one and it's put a smile on my face as usual..

Both of these outfits seem to do the rebuilds for other specialists, I am sure if you wanted a Hartech rebuild they would organise motor shipment for you or with your specialist of choice. One in particular that I have known for about 15 years told me that if you buy the parts yourself from Capricorn they charge an appropriate amount to cover the development costs/royalty as the parts was originally developed with Autofarm, or you could save the hassle and just buy a rebuild from Autofarm. Ultimately this meant or means that AFAIK there are only 2 options that have a reputation for being any good and it boils down to those two outfits unless anyone else knows of another option.

A quick pic of mine, just because I thought it looked good!

BBS sport classic 11 wheels, a rare option & one that really suits the non kitted cars. Makes them look rather grown up

Nothing good in life comes easy. Are both the red and silver cars on 18" wheels, just the silver ones look bigger.
Still think they make the 996 look classy

I thought that too, red car looks to have standard 18" silver looks more like 19's??
