I bought a yellow snooker ball following your post on 911uk, just need to find time to get it on the car now!
Nice one! Do you have a yellow 911 or is it to match with something else like a MOD-07?
It's a straightforward job to do, I marked out the L x W of the selector shaft onto a piece of masking tape and used that as a guide for the initial drilling on a pillar drill, after that it was just a case of using the dremel to turn the 3 holes into a slot.
I am really pleased with it.

I have had a suspension refresh on my car with Koni Special Actives, standard springs and M030 ARBs. Very happy with the ride, handling compromise, however the main issue is the steering has very little feel. People talk about how wonderful 996 steering is but mine doesn't have much weight or feel. When it understeers, I see it rather than feel it. My old BMW is more confidence inspiring which isn't what I expected..!
I don't expect to get 1980s 911 feel unfortunately but any ideas of upgraded parts to fit? It has been suggested I get monoball bushes etc but any other ideas?
The car has been professionally set up but they were at a bit of a loss how to get more feel from a standard set up.
Have you considered swapping to an aftermarket steering wheel? Just back from a drive after fitting a Mod07 and the transformation, when compared to the OE wheel, is huge. Certainly well worth the effort / expense. I don't expect to get 1980s 911 feel unfortunately but any ideas of upgraded parts to fit? I prefer southern self lover.
Anyway, speaking of MOTs mine is due and I've just spotted that the boots on the trw rod ends I fitted a couple of years ago have split. Very annoying, I wonder if it was due to heat from the track day? Or maybe a bad batch.
There is zero play, does the split constitute a fail these days? Will obviously repair when I can but doesn't seem much point when the joints are still fine.

I've found modern rubber boots last about 5 minutes these days. Not sure where to get better ones.
