Oh yes, it's got to have a Porsche horn :-)

I have his one - https://bellavolante.co.uk/apps/webstore/products/... (came with the wheel).

I bought a yellow snooker ball following your post on 911uk, just need to find time to get it on the car now!
Nice one!

Do you have a yellow 911 or is it to match with something else like a MOD-07?

It's a straightforward job to do, I marked out the L x W of the selector shaft onto a piece of masking tape and used that as a guide for the initial drilling on a pillar drill, after that it was just a case of using the dremel to turn the 3 holes into a slot.

I am really pleased with it.
Nothing else yellow, My interior is graphite grey with the granite flecked plastic trim, so just wanted to add a bit of colour.

I have had a suspension refresh on my car with Koni Special Actives, standard springs and M030 ARBs. Very happy with the ride, handling compromise, however the main issue is the steering has very little feel. People talk about how wonderful 996 steering is but mine doesn't have much weight or feel. When it understeers, I see it rather than feel it. My old BMW is more confidence inspiring which isn't what I expected..!

I don't expect to get 1980s 911 feel unfortunately but any ideas of upgraded parts to fit? It has been suggested I get monoball bushes etc but any other ideas?

The car has been professionally set up but they were at a bit of a loss how to get more feel from a standard set up.
Have you considered swapping to an aftermarket steering wheel? Just back from a drive after fitting a Mod07 and the transformation, when compared to the OE wheel, is huge. Certainly well worth the effort / expense.

I'm wandering if the lighter the steering wheel then the more feedback. Because clearly a heavy boat anchor of a wheel would muddy or dampen the energy coming from the rack.

I asked earlier but got lost in the chat, any idea on how insurance companies take to the non airbag wheels?

The interior shots I am seeing are very appealing it has to be said.

I've not mentioned it to my insurance company, I've had some heavily modified cars in the past and they've only really asked about mechanical stuff and wheels. I probably should let them know next time I renew my policy

With a Porsche horn button you could play dumb and make out like you thought it was some form of optional extra from 20 years ago and therefore not a modification.

I've just sent pics (including interior showing the steering wheel) to my insurers for the agreed value.

I prefer southern self lover.

Anyway, speaking of MOTs mine is due and I've just spotted that the boots on the trw rod ends I fitted a couple of years ago have split. Very annoying, I wonder if it was due to heat from the track day? Or maybe a bad batch.

There is zero play, does the split constitute a fail these days? Will obviously repair when I can but doesn't seem much point when the joints are still fine.

They might have been pulled down too far?

There is a lovely groove for them to sit in on the TRW inner tie rods, this is actually too far though, they should sit just in front of the knuckle before that groove. Otherwise they get stretched too much and will split.

I am in East Midlands so fairly well placed for most places (except Cornwall). I would be willing to travel, any excuse to drive the 996.

I've found modern rubber boots last about 5 minutes these days. Not sure where to get better ones.
