Damm, my central locking has started playing up & car wont lock. (it locks, then immediately unlocks with double horn beep) I have tried locking the center consol ect but when playing with the door lock button in the car while it is running I can hear the driver door locking but not the passenger, so hopefully at least I know what door it is.

Off to the garage again........

Strong money but with the protection that a dealer can/should bring. Right mileage, classic colours and Hartech engine work for peace of mind.

Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't last the weekend. If you subtract the cost of a hartech rebuild it looks good value to my eyes.

I don't understand why they replaced the IMS on an early car when surely Hartech would have addressed that if necessary when they rebuilt the engine.

Not all Hartech rebuilds are equal. Some just involve one bank of 3 and cost - guess - 6 or 7k. A full fat rebuild with closed deck etc is more like 14k.

Fairly unusual finding a Hartech rebuild on a car with 65k. Toppy but definitely a keeper. Good options, with that mileage the diff probably still locks up too!

I dont think you would.

What if it had recently undergone a full nut and bolt top to bottom resto after having covered massive miles?

I nearly bought two of those back in the day, one was Chris Harris’ high mileage old one and the other was Bill Stein’s (used to post on here) that was stripped out and caged.

Lovely cars.

Maybe i am just getting used to the higher prices but I don't think that is asking to much, for what you are getting. in fact I think they could have got away with adding another £2K to the price.

I absolutely agree and was tempted to buy a 2.7 Boxster instead of a 3.2 for this reason. But my balls got the better of me.

However I can't see anything wrong with this picture ... if you ignore the trying too hard 18 inch wheels ...

I know what you mean about the wheels, I’m just not sure what to change them to.

Mine did this for a day there, but i've been having fob troubles so had been using key - it's stopped doing it again - it might not be anything sinister, might just need greased!

I've never got why people don't drive their cars. I just don't see the point of owning something that's designed to be driven (and is iconic because of that very driving experience) only to just look at it. Each to their own obviously but if this was mine I'd be driving it every chance I got.

It’s not the way I go about things but I do understand it. I know plenty of people who look aghast when they hear what I do with my cars-despite the fact mine are more than likely way better looked after than their garage queens.

For many, it’s an aspiration of sorts to buy the car of their dreams. Driving it on the limit doesn’t even come into it.

Same as the dive watch in my wrist, I mean I would dive with it but I don’t as I haven’t dived in 20 years.

There’s nothing wrong in having pride in something you own and have worked hard to get, I went to the local car show last weekend and everyone had a fab time. Cleaning and preening their lovely motors, they’d be horrified at cutting the corner and doing the dirt line at Wipperman in them.

Blew the bottom end in 2010, got repaired, did 3k in 6 years, then the top end went? I'm sure hartech have sorted it but that's not a very confidence-inspiring history!

I beat the snot out of my Beetle, that did the longest, smokiest burnouts with me behind the wheel. It's just tiny mile mint original cars. Restored cars are exactly that they're restored i.e no longer original. You can stuff as many miles as you like on them, it gets chipped, scratched or dented who gives a fk? It can be repaired and repainted.

So Hartech did a bottom end rebuild then a couple of thousand miles later a top end rebuild?

I would be wanting to know exactly what Hartech did and of this was the "full monty" or not. I have seen cars advertised as having a "Hartech rebuild" but when you get into the detail, it wasn't the full works.
