what is an 'early' 3.4 996?

There is that lightweight - can't type it - exhaust which costs 4 grand and saves something like 20kg. So I think the accountants here would be dividing the cost by the kg saved to get to a £/kg saved figure. I'd start with battery and seats.
Akrapovic ? Kreisiegg ?These guys make an inconel system, it's waaay more than £4K though ...

Given how much it hurts when a 6 year old slams the standard engine lid on your fingers, quite a lot.
Do you have photographic evidence of this method of testing said component's weight ? Or better still video footage (with audio obviously) ?

Looks good. What do you make of theses seats? I felt they were a big improvement over the 996 seats.ATM said:

Thats the badger. How many pennies?
IIRC, just over double the figure you mentioned.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZhmFfne1co&t=...
I am weighing up between cargraphic and Kline's stainless system however Kline wont give me any dyno figures for their exhausts but cargraphic do.
Does anyone actually believe the claims manufacturers make for things like exhausts and air filters (etc)?
I’ve yet to see any proven meaningful gains from bolt on stuff, including exhausts, manifolds, air filters, inlet manifolds etc on a NA 996.
Just go for what sounds best to you.

I’ve got the TopGear mild sports S/S system with 200 cell cat and apart from sounding better the car does rev more freely. I’ve yet to see any proven meaningful gains from bolt on stuff, including exhausts, manifolds, air filters, inlet manifolds etc on a NA 996.

Not when it comes to the 996 but exhausts in particular can make a bike difference on some cars and make a massive difference on some motorbikes.I’ve yet to see any proven meaningful gains from bolt on stuff, including exhausts, manifolds, air filters, inlet manifolds etc on a NA 996.

With the 996 exhaust I read that the engineers made a pretty good job with the standard exhaust so there's no way you're getting any noticeable improvements from anything else. I would guess the fact it's so short helps.
Open cone air filters a never ending debate. I doubt it ever improves a 996 but it does make a nice noise and probably does no harm as long as you clean it, oil it and keep it from getting soaked.
It's all the same as the IPD plenum thing which again has been shown to give zero to - gains.

So much better yes. I did this to my 986 a few weeks ago and loved it so thought I need to do the 996 too. Not got the rake adjustment wired up just the seat belt buckle on driver side. How did you deal with the rake adjustment?
I took the plugs apart on the 997 seats and put new terminals on them and plugged straight in to the loom on the 996.You only need 2 wires if I remember correctly. Ones a thick red one, the other is either black or brown (can't remember). I did the passenger seat first and screwed up slightly. I read there were 2 red wires that had to go together so I spliced them together and later realised I'd put the seat heating on permanently.
I just mucked around with a spare battery and some domestic wire until I figured out the wires that were needed. I have no idea what I'm doing with electricity and probably should be dead.

Inconel from what I understand is very strong and light so the exhaust material is very thin and as a result makes a lovely noise as per this vid

That noise, is more a function of the proper "X" pipe than the material the exhaust is manufactured from.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZhmFfne1co&t=...

But you're correct, Inconel does have a different sound to it when compared to stainless steel and titanium, and part of that is down to the thin wall thickness that can be used as result of it's high nickel content and its thermal stability, which means it doesn't expand and contract as much as stainless and titanium when heated.
This car features inconel manifolds along with a titanium X pipe and silencers :

Quite why you'd fit an inconel system to a 996 C4S is a mystery, but I guess it makes for good clickbait title and shows you have little or no idea as to shed weight cost effectively from the heaviest N/A, 4WD iteration of the 996 ...
I know very little about Kline's manifolds for the 996, but you'll find both Cargraphic and M & M products do what they say on the tin when it comes to producing additional horsepower.
