Chaps. How much mayo does there need to be in the fuel cap before its time to worry? Just noticed maybe a half-teaspoons worth appear in the last 2k miles. Never had a problem before. Should I be prepping the war chest for a significant withdrawal?
If there is intermix, the car will overheat. My 986 had this, cracked cylinder head issue was common. If there is no overheating or coolant loss, might be just usual crap.

Thanks chaps. Food for thought. An imminent child might mean a Hartech is a step to far at the moment but their advice would be welcome. I'll put a call in to them.
Maybe just try not using it for short runs for a bit and see if it clears up? It's classic mayo in filler cap weather right now.

Interesting they've gone for orange side markers but clear front and rear lights... Does look rather nice.
I think they're Litronics which weren't available with gingicators.
Aren’t side amber’s a requirement in the US?

Oil cap. Wiped off easily but is it just a product of a lot of cold starts and short runs?
Yes it is steve - don’t worry about it. It’s the weather and not getting the oil hot enough to burn off the condensation that forms

I noticed some milky opaque gunk on mine when I first bought it around 6 years ago. I did feel a bit concerned. Still works fine obviously. It's had a few oil changes since and I've topped up the coolant a couple of times too. Mine also had some new coolant pipes as well but they're not necessarily relevant here.

I suspect the filler tube doesn't seal too well - it flaps around a bit - and can easily allow moisture in and out. Then looking at the layout it will probably remain cool when the engine is warm as it just extends across the plastic air box. So there is lots of potential for condensation. These things hold 10 litres of oil too.

Just give it a clean if you must. I wouldn't even do that. It will be fine until it is not.

Just and fyi the filler tube should be completely sealed - if not there is an air leak. The cap should be tricky to remove when the engine is running due to the partial vacuum and there should be an audible intake of air from it if you do remove the cap - the motor will stumble too as you're introducing a huge amount of unmetered air if you do remove the cap.

Been meaning to update my Readers Cars thread for ages, been about a year since the last post, but the car was looking extra nice after a quick wash the other day and thought this thread might appreciate it.

I can confirm, now thats it properly run in, that a 3.7L conversion feels quite a bit punchier than a standard car.... smile

It would be great to read more on the 3.7 and the wheels! You don’t have a thread on the Morgan do you?

Wheels are OZ Alleggerita HLT.
Very reasonably priced and lightweight too :

Was the 3.7 conversion carried out by Hartech, Autofarm or another company OP ?

Was it a straightforward capacity increase, or were other performance enhancements made to the engine at the same time as the capacity increase ?
