Thanks all. Very, very happy with how it's turned out. Looks very purposeful and feels really special to drive.RM said:
It would be great to read more on the 3.7 and the wheels! You don’t have a thread on the Morgan do you?
No thread on the Morgan yet. Haven't done a single thing to it over the last year. Too busy with work and getting the 996 sorted. Currently tucked up in a barn and hoping to get to it in the summer. I have a friend who has asked for it to be a wedding car next year so need to get cracking!BrotherMouzone said:

Wheels are OZ Alleggerita HLT.
Very reasonably priced and lightweight too :

Was the 3.7 conversion carried out by Hartech, Autofarm or another company OP ?
Was it a straightforward capacity increase, or were other performance enhancements made to the engine at the same time as the capacity increase ?
Good spot on the wheels. Had been wanting a set of Alleggerita's for ages, inspired by PPBB's and Jethro's 996, and these came up for sale on FB marketplace for a price I couldn't say no to. They are SO much lighter than the original split rims. Couldn't believe the difference.Very reasonably priced and lightweight too :

For the 3.7 conversion Hartech did the machining for liners/closed deck etc and supplied pistons to suit. The build was completed by Angus @ AMS Porsche. It's got some nice new equal length manifolds, but otherwise is stock (other than the new capacity and lots of shiny new bits to replace the old parts, obviously). I'll do a proper write up on the engine at some point, but the main difference is the torque. It's got LOTS more grunt everywhere. On a fast B road, 3rd and 4th gear are insane.
New suspension has also made a BIG difference compared to the tired old M030 kit that was on there before. Got some new Eibach hollow adjustable ARB's to go on and then the chassis should be finished. It's been a fun project so far
Trying to buy some EBC yellows and apparently no one has supply of fronts because EBC themselves are out - global supply chain shortages and what not. So what pad is recommended as a good alternative to standard Brembo. Must have unbelievable bite from cold. Not interested in cooking them. Gentle road use only.
Thanks

I've got some yellowstuff but they're not great on the road unless you drive like a lunatic IMO, certainly they're a pain around town as they're noisy. I use them on track but swap back to OE for normal use. Thanks

I have some on my big BMW estate car and they are great. There might have been a little bit of squealing, now you mention it, when they were first fitted. But now they have been on a while they are totally quiet.

I run Pagid Blue and they're fine bar the odd squeal when stone cold
Good bite from cold?EBC sell blue, orange and red but I've no idea if they'll give me cold bite.

Are they old or recently produced - I believe EBC went through some manufacturing problems and changes a few years ago?

about a year old? Maybe they use different pads for different vehicles... Having said that I do live in London, maybe if i was out in the country they'd work better for me!I have some on my big BMW estate car and they are great. I'd assume an EBC yellow for one car is the same compound as another - but no reason other than just my version of common sense.

Been meaning to update my Readers Cars thread for ages, been about a year since the last post, but the car was looking extra nice after a quick wash the other day and thought this thread might appreciate it.
I can confirm, now thats it properly run in, that a 3.7L conversion feels quite a bit punchier than a standard car....
This is looking epic! I do miss my 996, albeit a 3.4 with a few tweaks. I hope you have an LSD on that 3.7 car - my first 996 had one and it really benefits from it.I can confirm, now thats it properly run in, that a 3.7L conversion feels quite a bit punchier than a standard car....

I recently fitted a set of Akebono ceramic pads to my 996 along with new Sebro disc's, they perform every bit as well as OE Textar pads (not tried Brembo pads) with the added bonus of producing way less brake dust. Thanks
ATM
Only downside is they are not available in the UK, I bought them from Pelican parts in the US and they were with me within a week of ordering.

No, not marky911's old one, but they do look pretty similar. Have chatted to the new owner of that car a bit on 911UK.identti said:

It does have an LSD (that still appears to work based on the way it will spin the rears up in the wet) but I can't say I've ever noticed it/needed it in the dry....A Hartech rebuilt engined Carrera manual just listed by the looks of it with 125k miles.... http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=149190&sid=fb...
Given the price increases on early 996s, what's the considered opinion currently on a fully rebuilt Hartech engined car over one without (or a rebuild not done by Hartech)?!
