what is an 'early' 3.4 996?
Discussion
Just did c 750km in the 996 3.4 today - was a joy to drive, even if I on occasion used my headphones to listen to some music as the lack of radio can get a bit boring. They are so small, it is amazing (haven’t driven it for a while), just climb across the passenger seat at the toll stations
Also it is the car with by far the most sensitive throttle, feels alive

I got mine from my OPC as they were cheaper than Design 911
Cheers. Only problem for me with OPC is that they're 45 miles away so tends to negate any savings. Fast Bug said:

A Hartech rebuilt engined Carrera manual just listed by the looks of it with 125k miles.... http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=149190&sid=fb...
Given the price increases on early 996s, what's the considered opinion currently on a fully rebuilt Hartech engined car over one without (or a rebuild not done by Hartech)?!
This car is on PH Classifieds tooGiven the price increases on early 996s, what's the considered opinion currently on a fully rebuilt Hartech engined car over one without (or a rebuild not done by Hartech)?!

The 911uk ad for this mentions 997 discs and pads. Is that an error? I wasn't aware you could fit 997 discs to these cars.
My guess is early 997.1 3.6 base Carrera's have the same discs n padsEDIT: quick cross check on Brembo's site confirm they are the same parts.

A 'not-very-CSR-looking' CSR coming up for auction soon: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2000-porsche-9...
Interested to see what's been done under the skin on this one.

I recently fitted a set of Akebono ceramic pads to my 996 along with new Sebro disc's, they perform every bit as well as OE Textar pads (not tried Brembo pads) with the added bonus of producing way less brake dust.
Only downside is they are not available in the UK, I bought them from Pelican parts in the US and they were with me within a week of ordering.
Had a look on Pelican Parts and don't see them. Found a couple of sellers in USA on eBay and assume they'll ship to UK otherwise ebay wouldn't show me them surely. Would like to order some soon.Only downside is they are not available in the UK, I bought them from Pelican parts in the US and they were with me within a week of ordering.
