Took this out yesterday on some of my favourite country roads back to back with the GT4. An amazing tactile experience. Worked so much harder as a driver than in GT4, never mind 991RS.

I thought Porsche said they weren't bothered with lap times for this model... wink

Leaving aside the potential different track/tyre conditions, it's a different driver setting the times so the comparison is even more of a moot one than these usually are. Meaden I'm reliably told is definitely the quicker driver compared to Bovingdon who set the RS time.

Porsche have never said that, it's always about lap times bar the 911R and the new manual option if you spec it that way.

They have built it to be faster and it is ;-)

Wouldn't it be interesting to see who's actually the fastest of all the journo's. Harris is the one that's raced at a decent level so you'd think he might be up there ?

I would put my money on Steve Sutcliffe personally who is proven to be extremely quick in racing cars..

A lot of them do I believe, bovingdon/meaden/harris all have taken part in the N24 amongst other things and I've been told Harris has done some form of racing in a GT3 race car where he was pretty quick. The timed laps like these are entertaining enough for discussion but tbh i'd like to see a series of laps from the driver doing the timing to see how consistent he's able to lap a car (any car) first.

I am sure they do many laps and pick the fastest, it's not really a one off flying lap. Bovingdon can pedal a car as fast as most imo.

Think you will find that statement relates to the manual version!

I would put money on Chris Harris being the quickest, remember he now works for Top Gear. No doubt his time and video will be on a forthcoming episode in the new series.

That is true if any of these people could drive that well (Pro level) they would be paid to drive and not review ;-)

I am sure there is a lot more money in driving if you are fast than jurno work.

It took Harris a long time to get the Top Gear Job and more by luck if anything, I doubt he earned that much before Top Gear.
I agree this has now changed his life £££ wise.

Maybe we'll quibble over how much is life changing, but he's going to need to do a few more years before I'd consider it life changing (which I think of as "fk you" money). He'll be able to go out to some nice restaurants, pay down the mortgage a bit quicker and treat the wife to something nice a bit more often, but he seems like a pretty normal guy and I doubt he's spunking it on private islands or whatever.

you really have to be an exceptional driver to make money from motorsport, most people who compete in series do it for vanity and spend an absolute st load of money to do so

but they prob lap faster than a run of the mill Jurno setting a lap time. The comments came from who is the best driver, where I would say take a top current GT car driver and they would post a faster time than all of the 3 jurno's listed on the last page.

Motorsport either don't pay at all or just doesn't pay enough, even tho Chris Harris is there and he is not bad

Would be interesting to see a .2 turbo S time (with optional MSPC2 tyres fitted and not the stock Pirrelis the .1 was on).
